I'm just realizing that the 2008+ WK has some nice engine options. That 305 HP, 334lb/ft torque 4.7 looks pretty nice, and none of that MDS stuff to worry about like on the 5.7. I had a boss with the GM LS engine with MDS which needed a few rebuilds. Maybe in 5 years I'll take a look at a 2009 WK with the 4.7. Anyone else like the Wk or Wk2s?

2008–2009 4.7 L V8 287 CID (4,698 cc) 305 hp (227 kW) 334 lb·ft (453 N·m) Laredo, Laredo X, Limited

2005–2008 5.7 L Hemi V8 345 CID (5,654 cc) 325 hp (242 kW) 375 lb·ft (508 N·m) Laredo X, Limited, Overland

2009–2010 5.7 L Hemi V8 345 CID (5,654 cc) 357 hp (266 kW) 389 lb·ft (527 N·m) Laredo X, Limited, Overland

2007–2010 6.1 L Hemi V8 370 CID (6,059 cc) 420 hp (313 kW) 420 lb·ft (569 N·m) SRT-8

2005–2010 Europe/ 2007–2009 North America 3.0 L Mercedes Benz CRD V6 182 CID (2,988 cc) 215 hp (160 kW) 375 lb·ft (508 N·m) Laredo, Laredo X, Limited, Overland

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
That generation of 4.7's have 16 spark plugs also,30k for top row(copper plugs) and 100k for bottom row(iridium plugs).Plug boots are known to rip apart when removing the coils, requires special ultra thin walled 5/8" plug socket.

The MDS system on the 5.7's are great as long as you only use 5w-20 oil, anything else will mess it up.

With the WK's the front coils are known to be weak(like KJ's) and ball joints are a issue. The front diff is a major issue from needing to actually overfill them to have proper lubrication to the rubber mounts causing knocking noises($500-$600 in labor along to change those).

Like he said, the MDS isn't a problem as long as you use the correct weight oil. Beautiful thing about the hemi GC's is you can get tuners for them and turn it off if you so desire.

I have an 09 WK with the 3.7. It's a great Jeep. I'd say it's more refined than my LR3 as far as road noise. Rides just as nice. Wish it sat higher.
