I just bought an '02 Jeep Liberty Ltd off a used car lot, and it runs great! The only exception is that every time I come to a stop, the chimer sounds once. There are no notification lights or any indication of anything wrong on the instrument panel. Has anyone else had this problem or know of a fix? I have been to three shops and no one can figure it out!

Welcome to the forums Ryan.
I would start by downloading your owners manual if you do not have the paper copy.

It will take some time in free mode on easy share. 2002 not available on Jeep site anymore. Maybe this will point something out for the 2002 for you.
A single ding could be the rear "glass" or LowWash,/lowfuel, so open the glass and confirm it is displayed properly and you got lots of washer fluid. Display is on the mileage/ led.
Make sure you are set to read the mileage not odometer readings initially.
Do you have an overhead display unit (EVIC) as well?
When u stop and it dings immediately look at screen and hit the odometer reset button twice this takes you quickly to odometer and then back to mileage and may force the message...,and see if it reads back anything.
Hopefully others will "chime" in and be able to help further, otherwise a stop by the dealer may be needed.

Just a shot in the dark
I had a '96 Ram 2500 with a V8
at 170K it was burning oil
oil got low and at a hard stop it would ding and show low oil
but come right back
however it held 6 quarts ,IIRC, and would ding when it was 2 low
check the oil

Welcome to the family Ryan!
I have got an 02 but don't have a "ding" when it stops. U pulling the handbrake on or opening the door before you stop or something? Don't even know if it "dings" if you do that but can't think of anything else. If it is anything to worry about it will tell you on the odometer at the same time as it "dings". Spooky!! Hehe. :smokin:

Thanks guys! Downloading the manual right now. Oil level is good. I will check on the rear window and see what happens. The gauge readings also sparked my interest, as the gas gauge didn't work when I first bought it and I had to take it in to get it fixed. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

Well, after reading the owner's manual that you gave me a link to (thank you very much) I learned more about the instrument panel and decided to do a diagnostic test on it. Turns out my oil pressure indicator light isn't functional. Now, I don't know if that's the cause of the ding, but I am going to replace the bulb and see what happens. I'll keep you posted.
