I'm thinking about buying a 2006 Liberty Sport 4x4 with 57,000 miles for just under $10,000. This would be my first Jeep, has anyone had any issues (major or minor) that I should know? How reliable are they? How awesome are they? This jeep has no aftermarket parts on it, all stock. I have heard mostly all great things about the liberty models, except that the window motors go out alot.

Pretty much it, otherwise they are pretty trouble free. Just keep on on routine maintenance, and it'll take care of you. :D

They are awesome, especially the 4x4 models. Can't really think of another vehicle (other than another KJ) that is as fun.

Welcome to JKJ as well.

Not the mountains.
It isn't the window reg. motors that are the problem it is the plastic piece that holds onto the glass itself. There is an aftermarket kit available that fixes that problem. I love my 06.:smokin:

if you dont like ABS or electronic trac control dont buy it.

the 06+ relies heavily on ESP and ABS.

Welcome!
ABS isn't bad, but the ESP can be kinda lame.. I leave it off most of the time, and it usually won't engage then
Other then that I love my 06!

yes, the ESP has given me some trouble in mud when I needed wheel speed to clear out the tread and grab more mud... it just applies the brakes and slows everything down and kills my momentum... might not be a problem when I finaly get some real tires on it. (water heater, kids with lice, wheel bearings, trailering stuff... all cost a lot of money, so still no tires) I had to replace the cat converters on my 06 last year. other than some adjustments, and some worn parts to replace, it has been fine (though I just barely turned over 52,000 miles, that seems kind of low to have had to replace wheel bearings and ball joints)

Thank Goodness My 04 has none of that ESP/ABS non sense.
When I want power to get out of some situation, the darn engine better no cough/choke and limit my abilities.
Even having the tire pressure monitor crap, can be problematic.
