Hellos. I have seen my problem on the forum, but there seems to be no solutions-
My 05 CRD, 170k mi. started acting up about 6mo ago. the issue is it will not start 'sometimes'.
I turn the key, everything comes on, but the starter will not run. Sometimes it will, more times it will not.
It was suggested that it was the security system, but i am not convinced it is. When it starts, it runs fine. It does not cut out as I have heard from others when the security fails. A different key makes no difference. I replaced the start-relay, no difference. The key function is smooth and doesn't seem broken inside. If I turn the key on and short the relay contacts, it will not start [the starter just turns]. Something is not connecting the dots for the starter to turn the engine. Anyone know where I might look for a fix? TY. dw
