Another no crank no start....with a twist

Hi Guys.....me again....I read all(most)and my issue has one slightly different symptom. Did some running around jumped in to go , turned the key , nothing , not even the power....no dash lights , nothing. I did the neutral shift and back into park...nada...Then when I tried again it started BUT the clock had reset and the radio was clicking away like the battery had been disconnected. I'm stumped....judging by most of the threads I've read starter relay is the culprit so I will start there but in the mean time has anyone else had this issue. I'm not an electrical guy so usually my course of action is the "process of elimination" but I could sure use some help here. My partner needs her Jeep for an upcoming road trip and this will put a damper on it for her.
