well the ? I have is I am having some issues with the a/c, when it works it works really well but here lately it dosn't hardley ever work, the fan blows hard but the compressor won't come on, I have replaced the relay just because and so now i have narrowed it down I think to the ac and heat controler and I see on another site that the o2 have had a lot of trouble with them, so yesterday I called the dealer and asked them about the problem and they said they havn 't had any issues with them, so am I on the right track in thinking the controler is bad?

Actually it could be that you are low on refrigerant - if the compressor determines you're low it won't kick on so as to avoid destroying itself.

If you're low on refrigerant you have a leak somewhere. It's probably a small, slow leak but it will need fixed eventually. A reputable shop that does AC work will be able to test it for you to determine if you're low.

well I have already had that checked and the freon is dead on , like said earlier it isn't like it is short cycling or anything its just either on or off and when its on it works great and then when its off if you wait about 30 mins and then turn it back on it will work again for awhile and it will work for quite awhile and then all of a sudden it quite's again

I havent seen any major problems reported on the jeep forums for AC problems on 02 to 04 KJs....the blower motors give problems on all KJ models due to a resistor pack that blows. I have no problems at all with the AC on my 2002 CRD.
Your level of R134 refrigerant may be marginal so the AC is battling to maintain a cool temperature and so runs for a long time...get it checked by a specialist AC shop.:freak3:

yeah already did that, my wife came home from work and said that the ac just went out so after supper I ran it down to the shop and had them check it, well on the way down it started working again, well I went to the shop anyway and they checked it and said the freon was right on and said maybe had a relay that was going so I ran to advance and got another relay and replaced the on that was there and but it still cuts on and off when it wants to, it works great when it is working, it will freeze you right out and there is no short cycling it just all of a sudden stops and you start getting the musty smell like when you turn the switch from ac to just outside air, so then I shut it off and open all of the windows and wait for about 30 mins and then turn it back on and sometimes it comes right back on and sometimes I have to wait a little longer and then it will come back on

Your clutch assembly on the compressor may be shot. Try this:

Open the Hood, Turn on the Car, Turn on the AC, if the Clutch does not engage, then then you can tell because only the pulley that surrounds it will spin.

While the car is running, take a broom handle and poke the face of the clutch assembly, this sometimes kicks it in gear.

What does it sound like? If it's grinding, you most likely have a shot bearing in the clutch assembly. I ordered a bearing and had that replaced. That fixed the AC.
