    Gas Milage

i have a 05 libby with 245 70 16s as well. I am getting about 25 mpg strictly highway. I thought the computer for the OD automaticlly adjusted for the larger tires? The speedo is correct (or at least its the same as a toyota tundra). Running cheap copper plugs, regular oil changes, correct tire...

    "Change Oil" Problem

there is a way to reset the "change oil" reminder...I believe you turn the key (but dont start it) and within 10 seconds you pump the gas pedel 3 times. This resets the trip counter till your next oil change, approx 9500 km on mine. If you look in the "how to" it is in there to be sure. Hope...

    P0137 O2 Sensor 1/2 Circuit Voltage Low

This happened to me as well a couple of months back. It turned out that the wires going to the O2 sensor was rubbing on the front drive shaft and finally cut through. I spliced them back together and all was fine. Before getting to worried, crawl under and check the wires closely. For good...

    blew a valve cover gasket

I didn't need to replace any gaskets. A week later and no leaks. Thats not to say the gaskets are perfect still...I should replace them soon. Thanks for the gasket how to.

    blew a valve cover gasket

The same thing happened to me last week! Replace the PCV valve first, check the tubing that runs to the back of the engine from the air filter. The PCV (located on the oil filler neck on the 05) on mine froze up along with the tubes and blew oil all over the passenger side engine and all over...

4x2 KJ 's off road (we can too)

IvaKJ2, forget about the bashing on here. Many have forgotten what a 2 wheel drive can do. I first started off roading in a 1979 1 ton chev pickup...with 2 wheel drive. I had a blast and more willing to go places where the 4 wheel drives wouldn't. A couple of tips that might help you out, find...

    drove a 2011 tonight

i just have the command trac...should have gone with the selc trac! The 10 is actually mine and the 05 is the wifes...but I drive hers all the time and she drives mine. That traction control has got me stuck more often then its helped. Like you say, it does help once and awhile, I just wish...

    sticky part-time, anyone?

A couple of times I have had to back up to disengage it. But then I started using the 4 wheel more and more (as stated above by another member) and now shifts very well in and out through out the ranges.

4x2 KJ 's off road (we can too)

To all respect to everyone, no bashing meant...a 4x4 is only what you make it! Too many people have a 4x4 just to have one, never knowing where the 4 wheel drive lever/switch is. People put a lift kit on, big tires, lights, etc and are afraid to go a mile near mud or climb a hill. That being...

    drove a 2011 tonight

I have both a 05 and 2010...both have good and bad. All in all I prefer the 05 alot more. I miss the part-time 4 wheel drive ALOT, and I hate that stupid traction control. For crusing the strip or a long hiway drive i will drive the 2010 but when the snow flies or I'm going into the bush (even a...

Another new development--vibration at 42 mph

Stumbled on this post...I to am having the same issue! Wheels balanced, tires rotated, u-joints checked, diff fluids changed (front is leaking alittle...another day), tranny fluid changed, t-case fluid changed. I am almost convinced it is a siezed u-joint or wheel bearings need to be repacked...

HOW TO: Driver's side axle seal replacement

Also...just thinking things through...would it be a good time to pack the front wheel bearings since the carrier is off?

HOW TO: Driver's side axle seal replacement

Great write up....I think I can do mine now. Is there much difference with the pass. side? Mine is leaking quite bad out that side all of a sudden! Also any recommends to taking the bearing out and in would help. The oil is still clean but as you are aware of these Albertan winters! Thanks again

    lift input needed

Yes, J-Thompson, you have raised the main problem of the question "why can't you", as being, why is there not much interest to build a off road libby with full lockers, low gearing and larger tires. There is lots of parts to build many other 4 wheel drives, FJ (or any toyota), XJ, etc. I am just...

    lift input needed

Thank you...i will head over there to check them out (jeepinbyal). I know the liberty and FJ do have different front ends, I was just comparing the two with being IFS. Lol, 12 inches is a bit extreme and wouldn't think about that...although... Its not REALLY something I would want to undertake...

    lift input needed

Hello all, I have been searching for lift ideas for both my 05 libby and my '10 libby. although there are a few 2-3 inch lifts I can not find any willing to go over the 3". But when i start looking around the bottom of these 2 libbys, I can not find much of a reason why 3" is the max. It is an...

    What was jeep thinking?

I think it is a bad direction jeep is going losing the part-time option. The SUV market is already overloaded by "grocery getters" and such. More and more SUVs are becoming urbanized, leaving few options for a "out of the box" off road SUV (Jeep wrangler for example). (banghead)

The Official KK gas mileage thread!!

i guess some people are lucky to have good gas milage...another factor may be in the gearing...? seems alittle excisive but you never know. like i said, i have no mods on my '10 libby. strange that some are getting 12-17 and some are getting 21-31mpg.
