    Oil Pan R&R

After the transmission pan leaked, I had been spraying the oil pan with a corrosion inhibitor (Mercury Marine) every oil change. Last oil change, there was a dramatic difference in the pan and the swelling of rust. Getting ready to sell the car, hoping it makes it until then but the new car...

    Oil Pan R&R

The oil pan on my 2003 is getting pretty corroded despite spraying with anti-corrosive over the last few years at each oil change. I know the shop manual simply states to "remove motor", but I have also seen other methods where the cross member is lowered along with the differential. Does...

    BMW Coolant Use

The BMW coolant is phosphate, amine, & nitrite free but does have silicates in it from what I understand. I also believe that the Chrysler coolant of the 2003 vintage (or Zerex G-05) does as well. BMW went extra lengths to protect both the aluminum and the plastic parts within the cooling...

    BMW Coolant Use

Have a 2003 Liberty with the Chrysler coolant that was put in when the heater core was replaced. Coolant is a little low and I want to top it off. I have some BMW Coolant that is a HOAT formulation, which is what Daimler used in Jeeps when they owned them. Has anyone mixed these two coolants?

    A/C Heater Control

Does anyone have any diagnostic methods for the heater control that is on the dash? Just had the heater core replaced and now get warm air not hot. Did the calibration procedure and got hot air for a while but now it is only warm again. It is either the heater control or (I can't bare to...

    A/C Compressor Operating Temps

Got it. It turns out there is a manual calibration procedure for the blend door that applies to my daughter's model year. Once I did the calibration, the heat was once again hot.

    A/C Compressor Operating Temps

That's now taken care of, the new issue is the heat is very hot. Blend door is definitely moving but the air is not as hot as it was prior to the heater core replacement.

    Blend Door

Just had the heater core replaced. Heat is not as hot as prior to the replacement. I know the blend door is moving but am wondering if there is something blocking its full motion to the heat side. I have a boroscope that I can look in there but am not sure how to get into the door. Does...

    A/C Compressor Operating Temps

Took it back to the dealer. Technician removed 0.8 lbs of refrigerant and put in the same amount. Turns out system was low. He re-filled but noted there may be a leak. We'll have to monitor once the warm weather returns but for now it is working.

    A/C Compressor Operating Temps

It needs to be evacuated for the heater core job and there was no refrigerant shown on the slip. He told me if it was charged when it came in then they use the same for re-fill. I think there is a timing function in the PCM, I will run it longer and see if it comes on.

    A/C Compressor Operating Temps

Just had the heater core replaced. The A/C compressor isn't running when I put it on A/C. Its 41 degrees and rainy (cold & damp). Does anyone know if there are temperature/humidity parameters where the PCM won't allow the A/C compressor to run? I wanted to test it to make sure they...

    Yet another window regulator issue

Got in the Steiger Performance part, installed it and all is well. This is one high quality part and I won't hesitate to use his parts for the next one, although hopefully there is no next one.

I hope you are wrong. I contacted Steiger before purchase and described what happened and was told that his part would fix it. Otherwise I am out $100!!!!

    Door Water Dam (Vapor Barrier)

Getting ready to install the Steiger Performance window regulator part and have been reading up on the door disassembly and reassembly. There is a water dam or as some call it vapor barrier under the trim panel. Service manual states to make sure it seals good. Is this part normally replaced...

    Yet another window regulator issue

My daughter came over tonight and her left rear window wouldn't go up. When I looked at it the spiral cable was sticking out of the door where the latch is. When the switch was operated, the cable retracted back into the door. Does this sound like the same problem that the Steiger bracket is...

HOW TO: Change Transfer Case Position Switch

Just did my daughter's today as well. Did it from underneath with the car on ramps. Hardest part was getting the electrical plug off, sensor came right out.

    Rusted out Transmission Pan

When I started researching the transmission pan, I found a number of oil pan issues as well. My plan is to clean it up a bit and either hit it with Por-15 or as an alternatuve spray both pans with Mercury Marine Corrosion Guard. From what I have read, these problems are common up north and the...

    Rusted out Transmission Pan

Well, this morning I used my Miti-vac to pump out the fluid (as mush as possible) from the transmission dipstick and then loosened the pan. Had one bolt that didn't feel right coming out and was tight. Hit is with PB Blaster and then worked it back and forth slowly out. It took out some...
