Security Alarm System Indicator Light, never seen it flash, and does not light up with the all dash lights test, by pressing reset button and key to ign on.
Does your light flash/blink? What color is it?
The owners manual states:
This light will flash rapidly for approximately 16 seconds after all of the doors are locked and closed to signal that the system is arming.
After the alarm successfully arms, the light will flash at a slower rate, to indicate the alarm is set.
Ok then...well does your light flash when you lock jeep with FOB or Door lock?
I know I have a basic alarm where if the window was down, and you locked jeep and then pulled up on then manual top door lock knob, and then open door, horns & lights will flash.
Maybe this light is for a more advanced system IDK, or maybe my bulb is not working, but I have never seen it blink ever.
I guess I will know more about it ...after this post.

My Export 2002 CRD does exactly what the manual states namely that this RED LED flashes rapidly for about 16 seconds on locking the doors with the remote fob and then slows down to a slower rate. If I open the door with the key then the alarm goes off!

I will have a look later to see if the red LED comes ON when doing the Odometer Trip Reset Button while turning ignition ON....maybe your LED is burnt out!

Thanks Bill. I do not think that the light will come on with all dash light test. Will wait for your reply though.
It is a particular separate circuit that only arms or turns light on by adding a ground when the BCM senses the need for arming.
YA I may have a burnt LED or a ground problem. Sounds like a DRBIII scan tool is necessary for starters. = eek.

The light, and alarm, come on when you lock the jeep either with the key fob or the electric lock switch on the door, if you manually lock the doors, or use the key, it does not set or de-activate the alarm.

Mine never flashed until I had the Viper alarm installed. Maybe there are different levels of security packages which aren't active in all cases.

Mine flashes after I lock it and then slowly after that. My alarm goes off if I unlock it manually.

Does the security light illuminate with the all dash lights test? By pressing odometer reset button and key to ign on.
I got no light illumination on the test...

OK I did the cluster test on my 2002 Export CRD.

The cluster on my Jeep looks much like yours but the hole that should have the RED LED in it apparently has nothing there.

My sound system is the original basic setup with a cassette player....coming back into fashion apparently....on the top with a CD player below it.

On the right side of the cassette player is a white circle which has the RED LED behind it....flashes slowly all the time with ignition ON and faster when armed...then slows down a bit.

The Cluster Test does not test this RED LED on the cassette player nor does it illuminate the empty slot on the cluster obviously.....maybe you have had a different sound system installed?:emotions34:

I'll check again at night.
I know this is an old thread but it is the only one I could find with the same issue I have. Wondering if anyone ever figured it out. I started a new thread with this issue, no response. Web searches always end up the opposite... how to fix alarm that keeps going off. Mine will not arm. On my daughters 05 Limited, using the key fob, using the door lock button or the key from outside, does arm the alarm. But my 06 Renegade does not do anything.
