I like mine. Sounds good, can thump if you want it to. Hides under the seat and didn't take up any cargo space.

I found one cheap on EBay, and just put it in last weekend. It sounded a bit boomy out of the box to me, but I was able to adjust it to where it sounds pretty good. Now I want to put some bassblockers on the front door speakers and maybe even upgrade them, and it should sound a lot better.

MOPAR Subs

You all think it worth keeping the stock radio & adding the Mopar sub????? I read at another site that 1 guy was adding 2 Mopars subs... under each front seat....

Thanks ......

I don't know how he would add two subs, the bracket is "very" specific for the Driver's side, and only one wiring pig tail will connect with the power conection in place. I had trouble getting all the wiring all back in place with the connections. You might be able to add a aftermarket sub, and the mopar sub, but I wouldn't know. Adding an aftermarket sub to the trunk area eats up cargo space. The mopar sub hides under the seat and doesn't take up any more room.
I say keep the stock radio and add the sub.

Does this unit plug right in? Am I going to have to remove the carpeting and all? I'm sorry for so many questions I just want some more power but I can't afford alot of what I've seen discussed here.

This is so damn cool, I wish we could install subwoofer without drawing power from the battery! I hate to run cables from the battery and fiddle with my old acid filled rusty battery.

That subwoofer could be used with an aftermarket deck by wiring it in... There must be proper wiring specs for it somewhere... showing which wires in the harness are for what...

Not sure if it will work correctly with any aftermaket HU. It seems to get hooked up in between the "sound" harness and the stock HU. Mind you, it doesn't look like he premium set up harness, since Premium harness has only one connection, as opposed to this one showing two separate harnesses.

here's an installation guide for the mopar sub that i found. doesn't seem like much of a job at all... pretty much plug and play.

What I LOVE about this stock setup is that it takes the power from the lighter port... Not sure if that's the lighter or ACC, I remember that pre 04 has both Lighter and ACC up front, whereas from 04+ ACC was moved back to cargo area, and they left a useless little space there, a bit larger. So, If that's not the ligher port, there could be a problem. Unless there is a seperate guide for installing it on later models. Or if someone can confirm that is in fact the lighter port.

Install in 2003-2004

Hi,

I was planning on ordering a mopar subwoofer for my 2003 Libby, but came across this on the just for jeeps website:

Will not fit 2003-2004 Liberty. A special connector was needed for those model years that is no longer being made by Mopar. The Mopar part number was 82208080.

For anyone with an 03-04, did you get the 82208080 part also?

The mopar accessory catalog lists it as an "adapter wedge" not a connector.

Can you help me? I am pretty crafty and could probably fab something if I knew what it was.

Thanks!
