I think your sample size was too small to get an accurate result. I would be far more interested in what you get using half a tank or more.

Yep, pretty sure you have to buy a whole new switch to get those pieces.

If you have a key that has the buttons built into it you need 2 working ones to program anymore on your own. If you have a remote that is separate from the key, you only need one programmed to do more on your own.

They have different kits depending on whether you have an 02-some 06 or some 06-07.

She has an 02, she can get a key fob off ebay for cheap (around $15) and then have it programmed. She also only needs one programmed by the dealership and can do more on her own. Instructions on how to program it on your own can be found here...
