Should the half shaft on the differential side of the front axles have any play in them? The large diameter part of the shaft on the inside of the inner cv boot will move slightly if yanked or pushed on.......should there be some movement here?
thanks in advance to a dum question

3 out of 4 of my windows are currently zip tied shut. Planning on taking it in soon to make jeep fix them all under the warranty. This sounds promising since I am so fed up without windows and some other issues I have been thinking of getting rid of the heap. Anyway, is the window warranty a...
Hi all
Should there be any forward and backward movement in the front driveshaft?
I have about a 1/16" or so play......trying to narrow down a noise. So far boots on the shaft look good with no grease thrown out yet.
Thanks
Ken
Hi all.....
My part time light has done the standard flip flop.....in 2wd indicates still in 4wd.
Anyway......searched on here and see i can go in from the top or bottom to get to the switch. I am going to try from the bottom first, but since i will be doing it by feel.....does the wire just...
I have a rattling.....sometimes sounds like a moan noise (i know, strange) that i have been trying to track down also.....only does it when in gear and slight throttle pressure.....sounds like it might be the same thing. Assumed it might be a heat shield.....crawled around underneath banging...
Just put a fram one in last night.....made in canada at least, i will take that over china anyday. I look at almost everything i buy where its made and will spend the extra cash if i can get it made in the usa! We all need to do this and not buy chinese crap.
Put some cheap napa brake bads on...
The boot on the front driveshaft also is in good shape.....I have checked that as I see on here it is a known issue.....
It is something that rumbles only under a load that is why I wasn't leaning towards the front end stuff because its in 2wd. I know on these things everything still spins up...
Hi bob, thanks for the response. Cv boots look fine and there is no play in the shafts when I yank on everything......plus I am only at 48k miles, would think they should last longer. Are the cv's under any load when in 2wd? I assume the xfer case doesn't send any torque fwd in 2wd? Thanks ken
Merry christmas, have a stock 06......in 2wd right around 50 to 55 mph with any pressure on the gas I get a low rumble and slight vibration. Let off the gas it goes away, also clicking out of overdrive to 3rd doesn't seem to have any effect on it.....any ides?
thanks ken
Hi guys......i was wondering.....does the electric fan run at all when driving highway speeds or is there enough airflow to keep things cool? Is it primarily slow speed when needed or with the AC on?
Thanks
Ken
Thanks for the videos........i will definitely take a closer look at the bushing while someone turns the wheel......after searching it seems to be a pretty common failure. I do all my own oil changes and clean any spilled oil up, but probably have gotten some in the drivers side bushing area...
Doing some searching......seems that the bushings have a tendency to disintegrate and cause this noise......when the rain stops i will go take a better look......just might have to do the bushings......
Ken
Thanks so far.......please let me know if changing the bushings fixes your clunk
Its still the factory fluid from 06......maybe i should start there and pump it out and get some newer in there......
