    Bypassing Glow Plugs

In the end, I answered my own question...there's a dedicated connector that's easy to access for the glow plugs (right on the alternator support bracket). I cleaned out a ton of black carbon from the inside of the EGR elbow. It's nice to know there's some carbon sequestering going on :-)...

    Bypassing Glow Plugs

All, We have a 2006 2.8L CRD. I just changed out the 7V ceramic glow plugs to 5V metallic. I need to start the jeep with the glow plugs bypassed to take it to dealer to have memory flashed (I'll use the engine block heater to pre-heat engine). Any straightforward ideas to bypass the glow...

New 5V Glow Plugs and Flashing Memory

Thanks for the thoughts! I already bought the OEM 5V replacement plugs. Very much considering getting the GDE Eco tune as I'll need to flash the memory, not sure yet as the cost of $500 plus $45 tool rental is pricey. And being in California, word is I might want to actually buy the $195...

New 5V Glow Plugs and Flashing Memory

All, Starting to have issues with the glow plugs in our totally stock 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD...then got to reading all these horror stories about the ceramics having a tendency to break apart in cylinder... They're coming out and the new OEM 5V metal are going in with the relay. Anyone...

    CRD Frankenlift and Roll Over

Hello, We have a 2006 CRD, mostly stock. Mainly my wife's car. Completely blew out the stock front struts on a Death Valley back-country tour over the holidays (the wash board was nuts!!!), and at only about 75k miles on the truck!!! And we're not hard drivers. So now I have a reason to...

    Attaching Rear License Plate Securely

"Short" 1/8" molly bolt anchors worked for top The "short" 1/8" molly bolt anchor worked for top, but I had to drill a 5/16" hole to accomodate the anchors on the main bumper, and directly behind it on the top left hole is a black piece of plastic (part of some "hidden" trim). While trying...

    Attaching Rear License Plate Securely

I appreciate this help, thank you! Now if our Jeeps had metal bumpers, I'd probably want to install one of these, with a magnet underneath to catch the cap (see attached photo)...

    Attaching Rear License Plate Securely

The rear license plate top screws are stripping out. For the bottom two license plate holes, I used stainless hardware (allen head machine screw) and attached a washer and locknut to the backside, but this isn't easy to do with the top holes. Any ideas out there for securely attaching the...

    Help

I'll bet journeymanjim is right. For my own, it started fine one morning, idled fine, but was absolutely gutless when I drove (to the point of being dangerous on the road!!!). Turned out to be a pinched vacuum line to the turbocharger.

Thoughts on Emergency Transponder (if they even exist...)

All KJ Fans, Any of you have experience with emergency transponders when you go into the back country, and maybe something goes wrong with the KJ? I can't find anything on the internet. GPS companies make receiving devices (for location), but nothing to transmit out if there's an issue...
