Thoughts on Quadratec Moab

I just purchased an 03 sport. I've been slowly getting it ready to drive from NV to Florida over the last few weeks. My latest purchase is a set of Toyo open country at3's 235/ 70r 16's. The tires that came on it are a set of old blizzak snow tires with decent tread, but they are dry rotted pretty good. They are on the stock steel wheels, but the wheels look like crap. A lot of the silver is flaking off. So I'm considering getting a set of the quadratec moabs in the 16x8 size. I believe they have a 5" backspacing.

1 - Has anyone used these particular wheels?

2 - Will the Toyo 235 70's work and look normal?

That is a way small tire ( width wise ) to put on an 8 inch wheel
no it would not look normal , you have a tire with less than 7 inch wide tread pulling both beads out to 8 inches
plus those wheels are just cheap knockoffs of the real Moabs, not nearly as strong
I have one ( brand new ) sitting in my shop that I took in on trade just to hang water hose on
If unlifted stick with a 7 inch wide wheel with 5 inches of backspacing if you do not want issues with clearance

Took me 2+ years of watching CL and Facebook while running stock steel with a rattle can coating before I got moabs. Be patient, watch for jeep swap meets, and use paint intended for wheels I. The mean time. Good luck.

So here's something controversial I want to throw out there: I think most of the OE rubicon moab wheels are cast, not forged - a few production years might have been forged but most were cast. After reading up on a few of the jeep rubicon forums they believe their stock OE rubicon wheels are junk because they are cast and that's why everyone got rid of them. Anyways, these replicas are basically the same as those. Though, these particular versions are much heavier than our stock KJ wheels, so keep that in mind.

This is a thread from tj rubicon owners. Their opinion is that they are cast, but I’d still leave some room that somewhere forged tj rubicon Moab wheels exist, just not the majority. Maybe they’re wrong? Tom how do you know they are forged - is it the weight, construction, a forging number, etc?

Straight from Jeep engineers and the folks who built the Rubys
Lived in Toledo and had a lot of great friends who worked at Jeep and knew where all of the parts came from
That is how I know for sure
Not reading from a bunch of wannabe so called experts
No matter what they say 03-06 were forged, ........... period

Plus the way I read down through most of them also say Forged up until new ones on the JKs came out
