so my drivers window seems to have failed. I can hear the motor going but nothing happens. It made a horrible grinding noise then the window started sliding back down. Is this a likely regulator or something else?

While you're at it, replace all of them. If one goes, chances are the others are about to go as well. For about $100, you never will have to worry about them again.

installed the drivers window kit tday will do other side when I have more time. Great kit fairly easy to install it's all steel so it won't deteriorate. the screw like cable on the oem goes into a plastic sleeve that had just cracked and broken releasing the cable. the motor works just fine why replace the whole thing with another that will do the same with age.

I replaced all 4 last year with metallic ones for 72$ from ebay. The OEM are plastic and finally brake...
Since then, I do not have any problem.
