Finally lifting

I got rid of my tj and can't fight the itch to go wheeling, so set up my kj to go play seems like the logical thing. What is the best lift for 31/10.5 mud ta's and an arb bumper with a winch? Don't want to rub or dive under braking with the additional weight up front? Waiting for enlightenment before I order parts.lol oh and what backspacing on the wheels too?

top section of every discussion. lift discussion, wheels and tires and the how to section is where I go whenever I have a question. there's only been a few that I couldn't find. Everyone here is great in answering good questions but they'll def let you know if it's been answered before...

Well I got the OME lift with black steel wheels and 31/10.5/16 bf Goodrich all terrain ta's and the arb bullbar. Now I just have to put it all on when it gets here and the smittybuilt xrc 9.5 winch

Which OME lift? I’ve got 927/948 with extras running 31s with no problem but you can’t run 31s with just the HD springs alone.

No they don’t know what they’re talking about
Most of them are used to selling Wrangler parts not Liberty..
I have OME 927/948 springs (HD), Bilstein shocks front and back, 3 ring clevis lift up front and one extra iso in the rear on each side
Also have my pinch welds pounded over and it JUST clears when turning fully in reverse so there’s no possible way you’d have 31s with just the springs
The OME springs are marketed as giving 1.5” of lift due to laws in Australia but it actually gives you 2.5”
Still isn’t enough to run 31s though

Oh and to add, you got the ARB bumper? Even with adding clevis lift up front it’d still probably weigh down the front end too much, especially through time, for 31s so I’d get that tire size out of your head if you want that bumper

Well I already have the bumper and the lack of bumpers with winch mounts for the Libby is sad, besides the arb looks awesome. I'm a welder fabricator for a little over 30 years now so I'm figuring on a solid axle conversion in the near future and 33's, the ome lift and the tires was just to make it not look like an old ladies grocery getter in the mean time and make it so I can play around in the woods a bit in the meantime.

Not even with the max amount of clevis lift up front..
Maybe you should return the OME and get JBAs adjust-a-strut coilovers instead so you can run 4”+ lift

I know how much everyone likes them on here and I imagine that they work as advertised. But they cost to much considering I'm not going to keep the ifs for more than a year probably. Need to save up for a Tig welder for the steering parts for the swap.

Besides $905 for the ome lift verses $2800 before tax and shipping for the jba lift, and I'm not going to leave it on there for all that long. Just long enough to find a good deal on a pair of the diffs and rebuild them and save up for a pair of Bilstein 5150 long travel coilovers for the rear and fox 2.5 for the front. Thinking about getting a Clayton off-road 3 link long arm kit and modifying it to fit the kj for the SFA and they have a coil spring 4 link kit for the rear, more modifying to fit the Libby but I could pretty much just build it for the amount of lift I want and run 33's. I've been a welder fabricator for 30+ years and have the equipment needed, just need to build up the cash for all of the parts. But would be a badass kj when finished.

Would you be willing to repeat this if it works out and if so what do you think you would charge if supplied with all the parts needed?

That depends on how much I have to modify the Clayton XJ 3 link kit and the Clayton 4 link rear kit. I know all the parts aren't cheap. Why I just want to lift it cheaper for now.

Some may say don't need to but helps with power and treating the motor and ****** lots better
Did you get 790s and 948s, if not not worth installing with the ARB and possibly winch
Also did you get the 132L rear shocks, if the shocks that come with the kit they are too short
I could tell you more but waiting

I got the heavy duty front springs and the medium duty rear springs, installed the lift over the weekend, looks awesome. Finally doesn't look like a soccer mom rig. Waiting for the time to mount the bumper and winch.

Rear shocks are stock length unless you ordered the OME 132Ls
