Hi,
I was shopping around for a change my jeep and found one good deal 2009 Liberty sport for $9,995 with seems even a bit strange low mileage of 88k , I am looking to see it next weekend but want to get some opinions first what to look at and if that price seems real.

Have a good time :help:

All I can add is I bought my new in 2004 and have 168,000 mile on it. Repairs Brakes twice, tune ups oil changes, tires, Batteries and O2 sensors. Only main problem a rearend and I have a cantankerous ECU that I have been too lazy to replace. I plan to keep it until the apocalypse.

Check the local prices in your area for a low mileage jeep. See if they have service records. Check everything out good including the 4wd. Have a mechanic check it out if you can. Good luck and let us know what you find.

Carfax?
What kind of title (none, salvage or clean)
How many owners?
Previously a rental?
Last Service record?
Did it sit idle for an extended period?
What, if any, problems are there with it?

Those are the answers I look for, along with looking it over.

Because you mentioned it.... CarFax... they get their data fro a ton of different sources, but don't trust it absolutely. If someone wrecks a car (or Jeep), and pays their local "guy" at the body shop to fix it on the cheap for cash, possibly under the table, possibly not, it very likely may not get reported to CarFax since it hasn't been run through any official agency or department.

Trust what's on there, but don't preclude the possibility that there may have been damage and repairs that aren't on the report. That's why having a good mechanic look it over prior to purchase is a great idea.

I dont really trust CarFax, friend of mine bought a used Acura with clean CarFax and after a while (like 6 months) he took for service to mechanic and realize that car had accident.

Exactly. If it's on there, OK... acknowledged. If something ISN'T on there... don't take it as gospel that it's a clean vehicle.

there is a free carfax service yea its not perfect but better than nothing. you can at least check the mileage history.

I went to inspect a jeep and the nice price of $4995 turned into $4995 down on a $8k car -only with a high interest car loan.

BUYER BEWARE!
