I had that same P0171 off and on for over a year after I swapped in my new engine. Replaced a bunch of vacuum hoses but it would still come back - seemed to pop up after the engine was at idle for a while when fully warmed up (didn't matter if it was winter or summer.) I figured that one or more of the gaskets around an intake runner on the left side of the engine had a very slight leak that was amplified when the engine was at operating temp. And an engine at idle draws more vacuum so that's when it set the code. Engine never ran any differently so it seemed the leak wasn't that big.

Good news is I haven't had the code since last summer. Not gonna go after the source of the leak unless the code comes back. Maybe you'll be in the same situation. Does yours run rough or seem like it has a miss?

Well I really thank you for the advice. I'm going to have to have my mechanics track this down since in MA we have yearly inspections where that will fail in a instant.

Since I changed the sensor runs fine. Not smooth but it never has been.

You know how guys can be, looks like the new one may be a mm bigger than the old one? Better get some wheelie bars on the back of your Jeep, pronto!

A little bigger. HUGE difference. Engine no longer bogs down when I slam it in a higher gear. No loss in low end either. No dyno of course but my shift points (manual) have definitely changed. I can run higher gears at lower speeds.

So is it a TB from a 4.7?

Just tryin' to pick up what you're putting down, dig...?

Nah it's a fastman bored out for the 3.7. Inside is alot smoother (along with everything) and it is slightly bigger. Definitely a increased throttle response but it feels even more than that. Haven't had it long enough for conclusive results.

Had a really wet night here. Couple of massive thunderstorms rolled in and lit everything up. Made sleeping kinda hard when the ground shook. Wet day today but tomorrow looks better.

Home for the week (6 person cabelas tent. Lots of room if you get trapped. Keeps my other lady happy.)

Nice private campsite. Was that in a state park in Mass somewhere?

Nah I'm in the middle of green mountain national park (southern half). Surprisingly still have 1 bar of service which is nice considering I have to keep an eye on the storms. Got another one getting a little too close for comfort....

Few more pictures from camping. Had a really good time even though the weather didn't cooperate. I counted 9 cars/trucks that passed my campsite while I was there for 4 days haha.

Last one was the type of road that forest access road is. One lane and kinda squirrely.

That looks like the best place to go and camp. Out in the boonies, no crowds, but plenty of skeeters. ......lol..... Just bring repellant and keep a good campfire going at night. We have a couple of places like that around here.

Nice pictures, looks like a nice spot. I'll be doing the same in couple months. Hopefully the rain will hold off during the trip.
