One of the main reasons Ryan decided to quit posting on the KJ forums is to follow his passion for automotive lighting.
We poured allot if hard earned cash into this venture.
There are zero guarantees that this will work but like the saying "Nothing ventured nothing gained"!

Might be a long shot.

Here is what he posted on Jeep forum...

There's a new LED headlamp bulb coming out soon.
Designed to work properly (projecting the light beam where it is needed and not causing stray light for oncoming traffic) in Halogen reflector headlamp units. And uses U.S. made LED lighting modules.
The Lumen output is on par with the "Truck lite" and J.W. Speaker LED direct replacement LED headlamp units.
The price will also be desirable!
Direct replacement 9007 LED 1200 Lumen bulbs coming soon!
Like I mentioned earlier, no price as of yet but a pair of LED bulbs will be attractive compared to what is currently available from Truck lite and Mr. Speaker!
These will be a direct replacement for exsisting Halogen bulbs.
(If this venture doesn't bankrupt me!)

This doesn't happen over night folks!

If it takes off it takes off.
If not, he gave it a shot and he will continue to try to make it work.
Until we are broke!

But whatever, it's only money!

For all you "Nay Sayers", lets see your attempt at doing this.
It's easy to criticize somebody, but until you dump your life savings into this...

I hope this works out folks.

Woo - this sounds good - especially if you can do it in an H4 fitment! I would be interested - my "hi output" bulbs - while good, are more delicate and blow a bit more often. An LED replacement with that sort of output in a stock reflector would be of interest to quite a few people.

There is an increasing interest on this side of the pond in LED replacement lights for Landies etc, but the cost is prohibitive. I can't recall the cost of the last one I saw (tested in a Landie magazine), but I recall that it came in at not much less than £1500. No-one is really going to pay that!

Good luck and congratulations on giving it a go!

Happy Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.

Hids are illegal in nj. And they have no problem giving you an $80 ticket for un approved equipment. Along with window tint, over sized tires with out mudflaps and fender flares. And driving with fog lights on. NJ state troopers dont really care about it, its more local municipalities trying to get some extra cash.

What's up with that?

So if I'm in NJ this winter and turn on my fogs to help me during a snow storm some local yokel will throw me an $80 ticket for trying to be safe?

Gotta say the moronic rules this country is coming up with anymore... :freak3:

With out of state plates it could go either way. You obviously wouldnt know any better but at the same time if the dude is in a bad mood he could write you a ticket. Alot of times with out of staters they make a court apperance required so you would have to come back to pay the ticket. But Bob Dylan said it best, "Nothings illegal in New Jersey unless you get caught"

wrong... you wont get a ticket for the equipment that is legal in your state.

Your state is allowed 4 forward facing white lights,so for you to drive with your low beams on and OEM foglights is perfectly legal otherwise your Jeep could not have been sold or registered in NJ.

You guy's are going to be getting screwed soon as inspections are going bye-bye unless your lifted then you must get inspected and get a "elevated vehicle approval certificate".

Was his tint legal to the regulations of NJ? Probably not.

HID headlights are NOT illigal in NJ. They are OEM on most cars, so they are LEGAL in NJ.

HID conversion kits are NOT LEGAL in NJ, just like yours. You said yours are 12,000K lamps, those are not legal in ANY state. Like Tjkj2002 stated, 4 forward facing WHITE lights, this generally is between 6500K and 3000K. 12000K is way past the blue band and up into the purple band of th elight spectrum. They are also in parabolic reflective lamp housings that are NOT designed for that amount of light illumination. THIS is why you are getting pulled over, not because they have nothing better to do. I have been to court many times of tickets for equipment issues in the state of Florida and won my case every time because I read the regulations and understood what they said. Tint, lighting, lift and lowered I have been in court about it, and NEVER lost.

HID kits are 100% illegal unless its original equipment no matter what kelvin rating they are. They may not notice white and yellow light as much as the blue and purples but they are still illegal. And so is tint on your front windows. They pull people over all the time for things like that. Its an easy income for the township. You can try to fight it but you wont win, ive tried twice and there are no frounds to fight it. Theyre illegal plain and simple. NJ is nothing like florida or any other state for that matter

They have already done away with most inspection criteria. Only thing they check is emissions.

Written laws are written laws period. If they quote the regs and you are within the regs they are wrong. If you go to court a prove this they have to by law remove the violation notice. Does not matter what state you live in. Not making yourself smart on rules and regulations is where the fault is on yourself.

HID kits are not illegal if used for HID headlamps. See this is what I mean about reading and understanding laws and regulations. You have to understand the law and how it is written.

12000k lamp is not legal as it is not a white light it is blue to purple. Dies it say in NJ regs you can have a blue or purple light on your private vehicle in NJ?

I under stand the laws on HID's perfectly fine. They are illegal unless they are factory equipment, end of story. If i had any grounds to appeal the violation i would but they just dont exist. If i were to go buy a new bmw that has hids from the factory i would have no problems but since the 02 jeep liberty did not have factory hid bulbs it is unlawful for me to install them aftermarket. Just one of many. Pointless laws in NJ, they are currently trying to pass a law that requires your dog to have a seat belt and another law making it illegal to use a hands free device in your car unless its factory blue tooth. Im not going to continue arguing, i only posted in this thread to show some support for ryans new venture and to hopefully get some sweet led headlamps.

Who is arguing? I'm having a conversation.

Why do you think they are trying to pass a law to have your animal restrained in your vehicle? Seems logical to me.

Handsfree divice, this will not pass. You cannot monopolize a regulation to a specific supplier. So you can forget that one even passing.

Why do you think they have a regulation for retrofitting HID in a parabolic lens? Why not try retrofitting a set of Mustang HID lights in your KJ? Or try the new GEN II Truck Lite LED parabolic lens?

Getting back to the LED retrofit of a 9007 capsule bulb, if this does get DOT approval or even better yet TuV approval, then you can retrofit and parabolic lens that uses a 9007 capsule.

Its already illegal you use a phone without hands free so the new law doesnt seem to far out of reality. Most of these laws are for no real reason other then generating money. They argue that talking on your cell ( with or with out hands free) is a distraction from the road. But its really no diff then talking to your passenger or tuning your radio to a new station. Ive considered retro fitting a projector lens to direct the light where it needs to be just havent gotten around to it yet.

I have been using a HF device since 2000. it still requires me to take my eyes off the road, up until recently.

The pet harness?

Well I am a few steps ahead of you on the retro fit as I have a spare set of headlamps sitting in the garage. Personally I have been looking at the JW Speakers as thier beam pattern is much better than anything else on the market.
