Back tires rub bad

I did a lift last week, change the front and rear spring to heavy duty left the shocks and the car was lifted about 2.5' after that i put rubicon rims and bfg all terrain 245/75/16 tire on. the front only rubs slighty at full lock but when cruising in the desert the back rubs really bad and got stuck in the wheel arch once :/ I took it back to the shop and the guy said i should lift the jeep it more and change my shocks........

What advise can you guys give? here's some pics

Bumpstops are needed, for every inch of lift one inch of bumpstops is needed, more lift will not do anything really, well it will but additional money etc . Is this shop reliable?
Plus the width of the wheels is going to be a problem, hence the additional bumpstops
You did go to longer shocks in the rear I hope?

Which heavy duty springs did you use? Did you use OME 948 lifted springs rear ?
As Tom mentioned ..longer new shock needed in rear....
By the way the OME 948 rear is considered a medium coil.

yeah shop is reliable this guy has been doing it for a long time and does it to his own jeeps ( mainly wranglers though ) but has done some libertys before mine.
Aye i see i need the bumpstops for the rear, honestly he hasn't done that. Is it easy enough for me to it by myself??

Um longer shocks in the rear...... NO and the front are still stock shocks

No the springs aren't OME 948

Don't have longer shocks?
Need them to have full flex
Also need bumpstops, have to pull the rear springs and install them
Bet you don't have extended front bumpstops either? And with stock front shocks only a matter of time before you'll be replacing them as well
So you sure he knows what hes doing?

nope dont have longer shocks, he tried to lift the car as much as possible without me having to purcahse new shocks.... I'm begining to think i should just buy new shocks for the front and rear save me all the hassle later on.
What would be the best shocks for the really soft desert sand and would you have the product codes? I heard Ranchos and bilstein are good.

Yip don't have the extended front or rear bumpstops what brand can i buy them from and are they easy to install myself?

I took the wheels off cause the jeep was very wobbly when i went over 80kms/h they said it was wheel balancing. They did the wheel balancing and it still wobbles :favorites68:

Do u Know...What springs did he use from what vehicle/ or manufacturer?
On level ground,What is the measurement from the center of the wheel hub to beginning of inner flare? (front & rear)
Do you have a photo of KJ on level ground from the side?

That spring looks really messed up. Also, it does have the front sway bar on right? You mentioned it being wobbly. A bad alignment would make it steer and feel funny too. These must be aligned right before they feel right. IMO those rear springs look like the OEM springs.

Yes that one spring is stacked right there, it can not function as it should, using stock shocks, springs from who knows what and they look like old springs, I would rip it all out and do it right. If not you'll continue to have problems. I would never install something like that and I'm a shade tree at best anymore! LOL
Did you have an alignment done after the lift
find out what kind of springs were used
measure from the center of the wheel/hub to bottom of the flare to get how many inches

Can you save money by just throwing in (used?) springs like the OP??
It inevitably leads to realizing there are no quick,inexpensive fixes that work well on KJ.
Use quality components that are known to perform or just leave it stock, until you can afford new OME Springs & Shocks. Do it Right - Do It Once.

Probably easier said than done when you live in Dubai...

Start trying to find Bilsteins from a Euro distributor, they're very common overseas and not very expensive. As for OME springs you're best to get them shipped from Australian distributors - or ironically from the USA because of sheer volume of shipping and cargo that go your way from there.

Seems like a lot of shipping and delivery to pay but well worth it if you want to keep driving your vehicle.

I got a store a mile from here with 3000 played ones....cheap.

sorry about the pics they were taken after the jeep had been in the desert then throughn some puddles so lotsa mud and dirty water on the springs. he told me they were heavy duty springs and were secondhand. If i want to go higher i need new shocks he said.

So now guys in your opinion what should i do to fix this lift? If i get shocks what shocks to get?? ( i want to go as high as possible ) hockey pucks i might be able to find some here as they have an ice rink in Dubai mall and have small league hockey matches. But the pucks will probably cost alot.

Can i just buy new shocks and put them in with the current springs, do a clevis lift or put some iso's in then the extended bump stops?

Sorry no blue pucks - they're now in my nephew's hockey bag so had to use the old black cheapies. I drilled a spade bit countersink hole in the top puck of each rear bumpstop to nest the bolt head and a washer flush to the top puck surface... looks nicer and the bolt (or nut if you did it upside down) doesn't eat the upper stop up.

Using my Google-Fu noticed it should be really easy and probably more affordable to buy a proper lift right in your neighbourhood...

Would i need to get new upper control arms?

The guy who did the lift already charged me $460 for the lift so trying to save some cash here

I have tried to put it back to stock using a mix of new and S/H parts but it's still not right and there doesn't seem to be anyone with enough depth of knowledge to get it right first time. TID; This Is Dubai... In fact if you look around you will see loads of blinged out TJs but the KJs are generally stock.
Anyhoo... I put S/H springs on the back but I am still getting a lot of rear end roll, so much that the tyres are scuffing at the outside edge. My idea now is to put OME springs and shocks on the back and leave the front standard. would the difference in ride height front and rear be an issue? is there a better solution?

Do you have the stabilizer bar installed in the rear? Not needed, but may help you if you have super soft springs.

I wouldn't put OME in the rear if you don't do the front too. It would really look jacked up. Just my opinion.

The reason it looks funny is because it is to long for a KJ
If you look at the picture ,which had to be taken with the wheel off
the spring is still compressed as can be seen from how the
spring is touching it self or "stacked" and by how it is bowing
to the rear of the jeep or right of the picture
