Nice XJ dude.

Man, I'm shopping for the same. A decent XJ can be had around here for about $1500. Way less expensive to mod and way more aftermarket available. Looking forward to finding and building myself a trail rig for the Northern Alberta muskeg fields.

Next low cost mod

I decided to play in paintbrush on my laptop and came up with this for the next mod.

Pic 1 is how my Jeep sits currently
Pic 2 is on possible paint job
Pic 3 is a 2nd possible paint job

looking at them, i am leaning toward Pic 2 doing the smaller section and maybe the flares. for now it would be done in paint, then eventually moving to bedliner. I am gonna eventually bed line the inside as soon as i get the money together...

only reason I am doing the paint is cuz I have to take care of some surfast rust on the rear quarter pannel so i figured what the hell, might as well go the whole way from front to rear on the jeep...

have them line-x or rhino line it instead of paint..

I am doing this myself... already bought the paint... when or if i decide to do the entire lower half it would be done in bed lining, but for now i think i am just gonna do the smaller part with paint just to see how i like it since i am already gonna be primming with rustoleum to take care of some rust spots near the rear... i will also do the rear bumper with the bed liner when i do the cargo area in the back... for now it stays as is... LOL

yea, you got it, budget is budget and when you springs are shot and need new ones and need to get u-joints on the front axle done, the toy budget get alot smaller. I figured i would grab the cheapo black paint since my local walmart dont have the spray on bed liner while i was getting the rustoleum from my rust spots

Nice XJ Don.

I ran across RockLizards page earlier, dreaming of rock rails, and saw a budget home brew 2" XJ lift. Go check it out.

http://www.rocklizardfabrications.com/home_brew_budget_boost.htm

yea, you should see my build list... I have alot that I am dreaming of LOL... I have seen that write up b4, my springs are pretty well shot, so I am gonna see how much my mechanic can get new springs for a 3in lift for me for, he told me that he can get the stock ones for about 120 for the rear, so I figure an extra 3in cant be much more

yea Dave, those are next on the list after I finish my rear... I am thinking I want to do the rims in the camo ultra flat black or bed linner... have to wait to see what one happens

ok, so I have been working on a few things with the jeep... I have started painting the interior trim pieces black, I continue to paint the rims black, I have been working on a custom CB and CD mounting locations, and I need to get the skid plates off my neighbor asap...

here is a pic of what the CB/CD project will look like when finished. I still have a bit more work to do on it. let me know what you guys think... I am thinking of doing a write up on it

first 2 pics are of what its gonna look like when finished
3rd pic is what it looked like before

Looks good, I had a flip up moniter in my 00 XJ too, loved it, but I didn't like that it sat so close to the vent, but it looks like you solved that problem :D
