I dont see the point of repairing a vehicule (any) if its a 2004 Libby its worth like 7000$ in the US ? You crash it for 7000$ .... just go get another one, insurances wont repair this unless you live over here in Quebec .... Repair Garages over here are buying every accidented vehicules from other provinces and from USA simply because they dont repair 3000-6000$ of damages while, here in Quebec, they are making garages repair totalled vehicules almost. Just make sure you know where the used one comes from and maintenance it had been throught. You wont have to argue with the garage about 'some' problems or weird noises you hear from something that might not have been restored because it looked good and 'worked' ... External damage is nothing i agree, but your looks like it got hit more then just external damage a bit. Of course, that is just what i think but, i havent seen all of the damages so asking us to tell you what to do can only be a matter of opinion since we cannot see the full extent of damages done.

It's called insurance, they normally make the call.

X2...

I have been told that since the financial crunch hit everyone most insurance companies won't total out a vehicle until the damage is 60-75% of the value of the vehicle, and not replacement value but a current fair market value if it wasn't damaged.

My Mom just went through this whole ordeal on her car, got smucked a few weeks back and finally after two weeks got the insurance company to total it because the car was not only physically damaged but had frame and mechanical damage as well. They ruled that 80% of the value would have to be spent on repairs and they issued her a check. The shop bought the remainder of the car from the insurance company for a undisclosed amount according to the insurance company, the shop told my mom though they got it for $2k and were parting it out for whatever was still good.

I had very similar damage a few months ago when a girl in a Mazda Tribute pulled out in front of me and I t-boned her. Her insurance paid about $7000 to fix my 07 KJ.

I hope after that expensive front end repair that you put an ARB front bumper on.

Yeah, i was recently clipped by a drunk driver which sent me into the guard rail at 70MPH, I was driving a 05 Ford Focus, and they said the same exact thing, it was more than 75% of the vehicle's value to fix...Good luck with your KJ though

then call them. It ain't their ride home. If you don't bother them they will think you don't care and they will get away with leaving the SOB in the shop and not paying you for what you're out. It blows ThunderbirdJunkie's mind how many people will just sit and wait for somebody that owes THEM money and wait and wait for them to do something rather than calling.

This makes ThunderbirdJunkie remember he owes tommudd money.

If it makes you feel any better, ThunderbirdJunkie's idiot brother's '06 Sentra was totalled today. He owes like 12 grand on it, they're giving him 9, and he did not get the payoff coverage.

Cool story ThunderbirdJunkie's brother.

Anyway, ThunderbirdJunkie would be calling them hourly until he got an answer

Yeah i would be bugging the hell out of your insurance agent... When i hit the Deer with my KJ it was a Friday night, filed a claim over the phone with their 24/7 support, talked to my local agent Monday morning and then the body shop Monday afternoon, had it in the shop Weds morning, had it back Thursday afternoon. I would have had it back Weds but the place the body shop ordered the parts from forgot a part in the shipment.

So from accident to fully repaired took six days. I can give you other examples, such as when an idiot hit my wifes car in a parking lot last year, when my idiot neighbor took out her rear window with a rock from his lawn mower, it never takes me more than a week to have the claim and repair done. I have been a State Farm customer since i got my license, and i won't ever change.

Have you called them for a status update?

Yea. I have to do everything pretty much.
I called the auto shop today and I'm asking them to do the estimate - esurance wont send out a claims adjuster to look at the car.
And if it's over 6,000 then I have to pay to have it moved, so i can get another estimate. All this with full coverage.

Wait a sec... They are saying they won't pay over $6k period then is that what your suggesting there???

Esurance ***** dude, sorry, but i have heard nothing but bad things about them. Get a real insurance company thats local and worries about their customers... (PS: Stay far away from Progressive, i can tell you horror stories about how they treated customers around here and a good friend of mine is a rep/claims adjuster for them and despite hating them its a paycheck, funny thing is he doesn't have Progressive insurance himself and it pissed off his boss)

I agree 100% about Progressive. My son was driving my pickup a few years back, when someone ran a stop sign and clipped him. The other driver (who had Progressive), was ticketed for running the stop sign. Despite that, Progressive would not pay the claim because they felt that my son was at fault. I had to go through my personal insurance company and suck up the $500 deductible. It eventually (a year later) went to subrogation and I finally got my deductible back. Long story short, I would never even consider Progressive. Sorry for the rant.
