I have been thinking on this for a little while now.....painting the chrome badges(Jeep, 4x4,3.7, Liberty) all black. Has anyone tried this already with some new badges? Since I am trying to stick to all Red or Black, I thought it would look a bit better if the badges were black too. Pics of the end result would be good to see.

Yeah, I also think black badges would look really good on a red KJ. I also wonder if anyone's tried that. I don't recall seeing black badges on a KJ. They all seem to be silver so you would be unique.

As far as I know, if you take the badges off you can't re-stick them on so you might need to get new badges and paint them first and then stick them on.

Since your Jeep is red, paint the badges black. That would be sweeeeet.

I would love to do mine in that dark chrome type finish! I think it would be the best fit for the Drk Khaki body colour.

You must be registered for see images

It's either that or Hemi Orange to match my hooks and interior lights.... I just don't think I want that much contrast.

I like the idea of black chrome.
I've done a black chrome treatment for my other car.
I used 3M adhesive 7 year vinyl sign lettering material.
I started with one of these.(Mine is real black leather)
https://www.europaspares.com/STEERI...EEL___VINYL_3_SPOKE_12_13_14_15inch_3707.html

I applied the 3M adhesive Black chrome vinyl to the polished steering wheel spokes and achieved this result:
https://www.europaspares.com/prod.asp?product_idx=3707&imgstate=1

I used chromed Allen head cap bolts to mount the steering wheel to the mounting boss. A little extra detail and everything was free.
Why didn't I just buy a black three spoke steering wheel?
One of my best friends bought a Mountney polished three spoke wheel for his California style VW Bug, but then purchased a Momo steering wheel and gear shift knob and mounted those in his Bug.
I got a brand new Mountney three spoke polished wheel for free. But I originally wanted black spoke wheel.
Black leather rim on black spokes.
I got the 3M 7 year adhesive sign vinyl for free from the custom sign shop I used to work for.
I did my vehicles emblems with the same 3M adhesive black chrome vinyl.
The 3M product doesn't fade, dis-colour, the material doesn't shrink, and doesn't get chipped by road debris. Better than paint as it is designed to last 7 years outdoors and vehicle signage.
They also make 3 year vinyl, the least expensive, 5 year vinyl, medium price range, and 7 year vinyl, most durable and most expensive.
If I lived close to you, I would do it for free. I would apply the adhesive vinyl material right over the faded factory emblems (With the factory emblems still on the Liberty.

My other car, I purchased 1995 emblems.
Just the chrome face had the black chrome treatment and the vertical sides of the emblems remained chrome. Two tone emblems.
I did the same for my friends V dub Bug emblems.

I am a graphic artist by trade. I specialized in custom hand carved wooden signage. I also did sand blasted wood, tile, glass, and Granite.
And much more.
