Window motor question...

The rear driver side window in my Jeep is currently rigged with a door stopper, lol. It started a while back when one day, I hit the switch to lower it and the motor just made this wierd noise, but the window didn't move. Well, eventually, the window started falling on it's own so I have to rig it to stay up. The motor makes a noise when I hit the switch still, but nothing happens. I want to get a new window motor or whatnot, but is this something easy to swap out in ya'lls opinion? I do most of my own maintenance, but I've never tackled a window regulator. Thanks in advance.

So far I have not had a problem in my 04, touch wood.

Thank you much! This is the first one to do it to me, so I'll consider myself lucky thus far, lol. I just hope I can do it myself....

Bad noise when pressed switch and no movement from the window(going down) equals cable pulled out of regulator and is not the broken retainer problem the newer Jeeps have.

Yes you need a new regulator and then that window will be plagued by the broken retainer problems.

shoot, i'm liable to just not use that window anymore once it's fixed!

Probably wont help. Most say they never use the window then one day it just falls down..

I never used my rear passenger window and it broke.

Well hell, lol. If I could overlook the whole 'doorstopper jammed in the window' look, i'd just leave it be! Unfortunatley, i'm tired if it slipping down every time I hit rough terrain.

I read somewhere (either here or LOST) that someone had propped up one of their windows up on a permanent basis by using a 2x4, or something similar, wedged under the window on the inside the door panel. idea.gif
