What is this dirty thing???

Are there more of these screens/filters I need to clean??? I found this one behind the glove-box. Help!

when you have your a/c on recirculate the air is sucked in right there and is blown out your vents. when its not the air is coming from outside the jeep in the windshield cowl. there arent any more inlets you can clean except for that one.

its the only way to go, use the vacuum cleaner? or its a way to take out that "filter"?
