hmm, my 03 with standard cooling/no towing pkg only takes about 5-7 minutes.. and that has been in the recent -10 to 15 degree temps.

I think the heater on the Liberty is one of the best I've ever seen. It helps having such a narrow depth dashboard, right up close to the heater core..

To the OP
How long has it been since a full flush?
How long since you've replaced the thermostat?
Using the right antifreeze?
At 15 below the other morning mine was throwing hot air within just a few minutes

Yeah mine heats up really quick. Warm air with 2 mins at like 15 deg, hot after 5 mins.

Mine takes a bit with the HD cooling setup. Should have switched back to the regular setup last fall. Better than overheating I guess though haha

Mine has the heavy duty cooling. I replaced the thremostat and water pump when I fixed the heads. There was a new radiator already installed. I did not back flush the core though. It works really good once it gets warmed up. My engine does take awhile to reach temp also. I used the NAPA antifreeze thats supposed to be compatiable with all post 2001 engines. Its the yellow stuff.

We don't have super cold weather down here, but last week we had some mornings in the low 30s, upper 20s. My heat was blowing hot in about 3 minutes (drove about a mile), even with the HD cooling. I've been impressed with both the heat and the AC, one will cook you out of the cabin, the other will freeze you out! Yes, my Jeep has the HD cooling, but it was recently flushed with a new radiator, t-stat, and hoses.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
My KJ's heater is the best I've ever had in a vehicle and I've had over 50.In mins it's throwing hot air even when the temps are below zero. The short drive to work(6 miles) I have to turn the heater off and roll down a window by mile 3.

I've measured over 165 degree outlet air temps from my heater in the KJ.

I agree. I haven't had that many vehicles but of the five I have right now it is by far the best. I'd swear even when around 0degF it takes about 2 minutes to feel heat.

02 KJ
11 Avenger
01 Outback
98 Ranger
08 Sienna (Waiting for spring would be faster)

So I noticed a difference today. Started it up and hopped on the highway warm in 3 minutes. Around town 6-7 minutes.

Our Libby puts out heat faster than any of our other vehicles.

Not the mountains.
My KJ's heater is my favorite thus far. My Focus hatchback took slightly longer and didn't throw nearly as much heat.

I have remote start and i fire it up about 5 minutes before i leave and it's almost at temp when i get in. Keep in mind also that it's been -10 to -30 the past couple weeks. I really like the heater in my KJ even compared to the great heaters in older hondas that would heat up in less than 5 minutes.

Funny tou mentioned older Hondas, i had a 89 civic sedan that would show engine temp on the guage within a minute or two of starting it.
