You're on the right track. But you absolutely need to put an online filter in the return line. FYI, the arrow goes to the reservoir (for PSP) or the transmission, as there is a one-way pressure relief valve in the unit. Definitely don't put it on the pressure lines.

Assuming a 3/8ID line, this is what I'd recommend....

This one also works well... https://a.co/d/hhSR1LH

I currently have examples of both in service in my vehicles.
I just picked up an example of the second version you listed from the parts store this morning!

Today.. Assuming it doesn't rain me out, I plan to:
-R&R the blower motor. Yes, again.
-Remove the stock headlights on the wife's ZJ and replace with a 3d-printed adapter housing to use H6054 bulbs.. Which aren't actually sealed beams, but LED projectors with integrated turn signals and DRLs. I found some bulbs on Amazon which I found performed pretty well on a buddy's Jeep (94 XJ in that case) and weren't ridiculously expensive, although they look it. As you likely know, ZJ headlights are notorious for being shit - if the bulbs don't just SUCK, the housing is full of water, or delaminating the chrome plating inside. I was going to upgrade to projectors, but if these work half as well as I expect, that will be abandoned.

Pulled the rear boomerang off my parts Jeep, nice and easy, done in a few minutes. Started taking the boomerang off my other car, both the bolts are so rusty the heads have gone, time to drag the welder out, I thought it was going too well!

Replacement pump installed tonight, spliced the in-line filter in to the return line. Having an issue with the fluid getting aerated in the reservoir now.

I cut two inches off the return line right before the inlet on the reservoir to get some fresh hose, then noticed the spring clamp is pretty worn out. I can basically pull the return line off the reservoir while it's "clamped" on. I'm guessing air is getting sucked in here. Gonna stop at the parts store in the morning and try and get a clamp on it in the parking lot and see if it helps.

When the fluid's not aerated it seems to work better though. So, uh, we're getting somewhere. Press on, eh?

Absolute waste of time on those ZJ headlight adapters yesterday. The sockets for the ball-joint headlight attachments don't work. They are out of position and way too loose. The fix will be either one of two things...

-work the issue in software: iterate a change to the socket assembly in the print. Lots of trial and error, and I just don't see it working. Not without a ton of effort (although I will learn something).

-work it in hardware: take the Dremel to that area of the print. Slice down the socket, then drill out the area to whatever size the hole is in the OEM part, where they installed the round socket attachment points. Salvage said points from the existing stock lights, and install on the print. MUCH easier and faster.

Guess which way is most apt to happen? I just need to source those round bits that clip into the existing lights. Unfortunately, I threw away the old housings before I put in the new ones (by TMC. Do not recommend, as I dumped a quart of water out of the right one.)

Chasing an annoying knock on my Jeep, I knew the boomerang was in bad condition so I thought that would be it.

Took it for a test drive and it was no different???
Jacked the front up to have a look and found the right hand wheel bearing has loads of slop in it.... but apart from knocking over bumps it's totally silent, that's a new one on me! I've never known a bearing fail silently there's 1/8" play in the thing at the wheel edge! This is my car & I'm not much of a radio listener so if it had made any noise I'd have heard it.
I'll be interested to see what's going on in there.

It's creaking and shuddering, just had new shafts and bearings through out in an attempt to cure the problem, but that didn't cure the problem. Has kind of whittled it down to being the LSD clutch. Has cost a fortune so far and I really need it sorted. Put additional friction modifier in which has calmed it down a lot, but am aware this is a temporary sticking plaster.

I have thrown so many of those things right in the trash. Glad you like it, though.

When I was mulling over finding a Wrangler one of my hesitations to driving one was the idea that I might come out to find random rubber ducks on my vehicle and would then have to figure out what to do with them

I did when I regeared. As long as you're comfortable setting backlash and gear pattern replacing the clutches is the easy part. Download the factory service manual, it details the process.
