I finally addressed my traction control issue. I started swapping the new one in, and I found the bolt had backed out. I pulled the bolt and sensor out, sprayed some knocker loose on the bolt, then I put everything back together. A test drive showed everything as normal.

I had a whole reply to this, but it got eaten.

Temporary fix, maybe. But don't expect it to last. The issue is upstream of that, in the body of the lever.
I've seen a post somewhere where a tywrap gets fitted to the clutch disabling it so the tension stays as set.
I'll have to have a proper look at mine, the inspection last year was touch & go on it!

I ran some 505 CRO from ATS chemical through the engine. Added to the relatively new oil in the crankcase, started the engine and ran it at 2k RPM for 15 minutes. Let it cool down, drained the oil, changed the filter, refilled with fresh oil.

The oil had maybe 500 miles on it, it was pretty light but by the time the 15 minutes was up and I drained it it came out DARK. Not black but definitely much darker than it started. It's hard to say anything definitively but from just running it in the driveway at idle at full operating temp it is noticeably quieter. I didn't have high hopes but it definitely seems to have helped with a variety of noises including the timing chain rattle.

Between this engine flush and the Redline SL1 fuel system cleaner I don't actually know that the Jeep has run this smooth and quiet in the entire time I've owned it. Idk if anyone here has run the 505 CRO (I confess I didn't search) but it seems to do a good job.

Update on this: The ol' 3.7 continues to plug along with a renewed sense of vigor, smoothness, etc.. It seems to have a new lease on life, tbh. It's much peppier, gets more miles out of a tank, still sounds smooth and quiet. I don't even have any rattle at startup anymore and the timing chain noise is gone. The valve train is quieter. So, it seems the fuel system treatment and engine flush did a lot of good for the old KJ.

It's much peppier, gets more miles out of a tank, still sounds smooth and quiet. I don't even have any rattle at startup anymore and the timing chain noise is gone. The valve train is quieter. So, it seems the fuel system treatment and engine flush did a lot of good for the old KJ.
I wouldn’t know if mine was running or not if it wasn’t for the rattling.

Steering shaft changed out. I had to remove the old one through the drivers headlight opening, and the "new" one went in the same way.

The clunk noise is still there! I was finally able to narrow it down to the inner tie rod on the drivers side. The U-joint in the old steering shaft did have play in it, so I am not unhappy I replaced it. But I sure wish it fixed the problem! o_O

Since inner tie rods are so hard to get leverage on to remove without the Jeep being on a lift, I took my Jeep to a shop for that. It will be getting new Moog inner and outer tie rods and an alignment, and they will be installing the Bilstein rear shocks I have been wanting to install for a while too (but the bolts were seized on the old ones).

wait'll you find out that the 07 KJs are the bastard child of electronics too. I can't change tire sizes with my Autel because of that, and from what i've seen no one can. @lfhoward do you ever run around the northern/central NJ area? if so I'd like to try and meet up sometime, with your jscan setup, and see if that one as well fails miserably.
Did you ever get around testing this? I want to install a reverse cam on my '07, and would like to see if I can get the dynamic guide lines working, but they need CANBus to function. I noticed we DO have the CANBus wires in the OBD connector, but these are probably limited to only engine/power train diag. Have not checked behind the stereo to see if there are any CANBus wires

You can try telling JScan you have an 08 when you’re plugged into your 07 and see what happens. The 02-07 model years aren’t supported but the 07 and 08 share all the same Powertrain electronics I think.

I'd recommend using valvoline restore and protect oil. It's got special detergent additives that basically work like a built in oil flush to let rid of any deposits and varnish as well as keep new deposits from forming

Yeah, I'll try that. Bought an MX+ scanner off Amazon, just waiting for it to arrive

New tie rods on, aligned, and new rear shocks on. Wallet lighter.

The clunk in the back that I thought was the shocks is still there!

Looking at things again today I notice that the drivers upper control arm seems to have slipped inboard on the bushing sleeve. I didn’t know this could even happen! I will try to move it back with a pry bar. I don’t really want to replace the arm because the gas tank has to be dropped to get the bolt out. These arms are only 4 years old.

This may or may not be the source of the rear clunk over bumps. Hope I can quiet this thing down.

Interesting idea. That would have to be a hell of a tiewrap.
