My Son and I met up with some friends for a trail work (Weiser MTB Club) and campout. I let him drive a good portion of the way out on narrow mountain roads, He's barely 14 and did awesome!

GREAT job !!! This sums up EXACTLY why these Libbys are particularly well loved by good Dads and smart Moms too….plenty of room for gear, particularly with the roof and bike racks, good street manners and solid trail manners all wrapped up in one almost beautiful package.

Not necessarily a "did to" but a "did with" the Jeep. My Son and I met up with some friends for a trail work (Weiser MTB Club) and campout. I let him drive a good portion of the way out on narrow mountain roads, He's barely 14 and did awesome!

I definitely do. I did it a couple years ago and they turned out nicely but they've yellowed again. I'd like to just replace them with new ones. I'll take a look at those replacements thanks for the recommendation!
Has anyone had good luck with putting a clear UV protective topcoat on a clear set of headlamps? I'm thinking something like a can of rustoleum (pretty sure they have a clear protectant?

EDIT please ignore, I see this has been addressed.

OK, didn't do to the KJ, but it's going to happen.

My son's XJ's hood latch broke on the passenger side last week. After I found out he continued to drive it like it's cool (because why wouldn't he... He's 25 and going to live forever) and administered a fatherly ass-chewing, had him order some Aerocatch locking hood pins. These require a moderate level of surgery on the hood to install (remove the factory striker loop, use that hole for the pins, more or less even them up side to side (2.5" from fender, 1.75" from front of core support) and transfer the mark to the hood. Drill, and then spend hours with a Dremel tool and various cutting discs peeling back all of the layers of the hood to top-mount the pins). It took him about 6 hours (he's never done this kind of stuff before so I got him started, and once he got 80% of the way through the passenger side I left him to do the rest as I had to go work on at least caulking up the new facia boards after replacement of the roof Friday).

He did a jam-up job, the only issue we have is once the latches are unlocked and opened, there's nothing to push the hood up to enable you to lift it... Looking for a spring I can mount in place of the factory latch along rhe CL of the hood.... Gas strut kit is also a possible.

Have a similar issue on the wife's ZJ... the factory release cable broke (cabin end) and has already ripped my fingers open a few times trying to get the hood open. We will be deleting that, and installing the Aerocatch locking pins on her vehicle as well..

In fact, I like them so much I will be installing on the KJ as well, and on my 89 S10 project vehicle, which presently has oldschool clevis pins rusting away...

Don't use single pack unless you want to repeat the job regularly! Proper 2K clear lasts well.

Took the Jeep on a long drive, when I got home noticed it was making some clattering sound at idle. Confusion ensued. It disappeared when you give it a bit of throttle. More confusion ensued. Got out a makeshift stethoscope, isolated the noise to the AC compressor. When I replaced the belt and tensioner assembly I checked the compressor pulley, it was smooth and tight with no indications of being worn out. I'm guessing my OReillys tensioner assembly is the culprit because that's the only thing that has changed. I took a video to show you but I'm technologically inept and don't know how to upload it

Edit: I figured it out. I have mastered the internet Video should be here

Update on this: Found the old tensioner in the dumpster, swapped the pulleys over from the new tensioner and reinstalled. Now it's nice and quiet again. The Oreilly's tensioner was bad out of the box. Maybe I can return it but I'm not sure since I pilfered the pulleys.
