I've started putting a plastic bag over mine and putting a gallon zip lock bag around the filter before taking it off, helps a lot.

Yep, been doing that since 2004 with my Mazda 6 (Ford V6) which had an angled mount for the oil filter that would leak a fair amount of oil - most of which would fall on the pre-cat and exhaust pipe up front.

Question for you folks that have roof baskets. I see in pics that you have "flush" mounted baskets along the rails. My Reny's Yakima mounts/rails are at leat 3 inches high, and the basket then sits on that. What do you folks use? Thanks!

If you want it flush or as low as possible, definitely go with the recommendations and post to make your own.

I was looking for something a little easier for our casual use (summer vacations with the family where we need more space so went with the Apex Universal Aluminum model (RB-1001-49) as they are pretty inexpensive and the cross section of the crossbar and the way it mounts to the side rails on the Liberty seemed to reduce the height more than a lot of the other models. I just measured and looks to be about 2 1/4 inch to the bottom of the Rola Vortex roof rack that we went with.

I've been very happy with both for the past 2 summer vacations.

Replaced both hubs. Old ones were destroyed. Took about 40 mins to do both sides. Moog Problem Solvers $94/each after tax and 30% off promo code. Timkens were not in Stock anywhere local.

Washed the ash off mine from the nearby fires...

Got the first package of lift parts today. Just the front bump stops which I ordered from JBA. I ordered my springs and shocks from Canadian stores just to make any possible warranty problems easier to deal with. Funny that the stuff that I ordered from the US shows up first.

Drove it. In the rain. Again.

Behaves itself very well in the pouring rain, unlike most other vehicles on the road.

Drove her like a mad man to make it to a early morning training. Hydroplaned the entire way home with the occasional blind puddle hop.

Took my little pal Roscoe down to the farm and tested out my offroad lights.
