Alright guys we've got a problem. My 02 Sport Liberty keeps on dropping the water level. We've just replaced the radiator as the old one was shot. Now it was really horrible when we had the old radiator in, but it has become less drastic since. We topped it off last Sunday after replacing the radiator and I checked it just recently and I would say it has dropped roughly a little under 1/3 from being filled. Any ideas on the problem?
(I'm very new to all of this, my Liberty is my first vehicle.) Thanks for any answers!

I wouldn't worry just yet if you just replaced the radiator. It's most likely just air working its way out of the system. I would just top it off and keep an eye on it for a few more days.

I topped it off again and was going to keep an eye on it. Thanks for the reassurance!

Let me know how this goes. Having yhe same problem but haven't replaced the rad. Having coolant show up in the overflow pressure reservoir.

Coolant SHOULD be there. There's a "cold fill" line that coolant should be up to when you're engine is cool. If it's not there, you don't have enough.

Well yeah, there's coolant in the bottle, but it keeps showing up in the little pressure relief reservoir in the top right side of the bottle where it shouldn't be unless there is too much pressure in the system. Never o verheats and had a new oem bottle and cap. So I dont know why its pressurizing.

I thought it pressurizes a bit when it heats up? I know the level definitely expands. How high are we talking here? Pics?

Pressurized up to 16psi, any more than that the cap pops and overflows to the top part of the reservoir and leaks out a hole in the back of the bottle.. ill get some pics in a few.

Second pic has relief drain on it. First pic shows coolant in overflow reservoir at top right.

That part of the bottle is the coolant recovery part.Since the KJ uses a totally sealed system it can ne normal to see coolant in that part of the bottle from a weak pressure cap(yes even new caps can be bad).It should get sucked back out and into the main part of the bottle when the engine cools off via vacuum from the cooling system.

I'd start by replacing the cap with a OEM cap, stant caps have went down hill in quality in the last few years.

Coolant bottle and cap are 1 week old. Thats what I started with, still holds pressure when cold.

Yeah, I started reading trouble shooting in the fsm and found exhaust gasses pressurized the system which is what creates the problem Im having. Looks like I need to call the dealer. Glad I have a warranty.
