Kitty,
For Cleaning, after wheeling, I use power washer, so hosing it down no problem.
That is where to begin. I prefer to use a bag over the alternator, but heck it's got wet be4.
While washing soap & water on small sponge works wonders/rinse.
Then it is onto drying and fine cleaning detail, using Fantastic or simple green on greasy plastics etc.
Then for the shiny look, Armorall on a small torn off piece of sponge, on most stuff makes it all good again.
It can take 2 hours to do it part by part.

Ya, what Tim said!
Just don't use Armorall on the parts you want to hi-lite with paint.
It won't stick and it's a royal pain in the but to clean that crap off
to get the plastic paint ready!

I wouldn't go crazy with all those chemicals under the hood, harsh chemicals and cleaners won't do wonders for the rubber hoses. I learned that the hard way one night after my upper rad hose split open and the Jeep lost all its coolant. Now I just stick to soap and water.

Ya, I have heard of that happening as well with Armour All.
I prefer 303 products.
I've used it on canoes and kayaks to help them glide through the water.

A much better product.

Hmm, I have the heavy duty shroud and just the electric fan too. No tow package... though I WISH I had the tow package.

As for chemicals in the engine bay, someone mentioned Simply Green... I also use this, but for about everything. It isn't the most powerful cleaner ever, but not nearly as much need to worry about damage. I love it.

I hate you LibertyTC :favorites68:

Before I read your posting it never occurred to me to detail my Liberty's air intake & fan shroud. Now that I have I notice how dirty the rest of my engine is. Now I'll be spending the rest of the summer detailing it!

In Post# 7 Randy you stated:
" Y'know I've never given the stuff under the hood much attention but after seeing those pics I'm now interested in cleaning & detailing the engine bay. Thanks for the idea. "

By the way I like the Red 3.7 and yellow to both Jeep and Fan! Looks Good!
Unfortunately you only have two choices.....

It will only take a few hours to clean under the hood, no promise what happens to your mind though!:smokin:
