I have a 2005 Liberty Renegade with about 112K miles on it. I bought it about 16 months ago. I've had almost no problems with it until today.
It sat outside all night (about 65 degrees) and then this morning i started it to go to work. I let it warm up for about 45 seconds and then slowly drove down my very long drive-way. When i pulled out onto the road and began to accelerate, it sounded like it shifted into neutral...engine revving but no speed increase. I backed off gas and then tried again with same result. As i'm coasting very slowly i hear/feel a loud thud or clunk that seemed to come from the back end of the jeep and then it shifts ok and i can accelarate.

After the first stop sign i came to...this whole process repeated itself. Then, perhaps because something had warmed up, the next 19 miles of my 20 mile trip went normally. Should i be letting the Jeep warm up longer before i start driving? Does this mean my ****** is going bad and i'm looking at expensive repairs? Would a transmission flush help? No unusual lights ever came on the dash and the ****** fluid was ok when i got an oil change about 4 months ago. Any advice or info is greatly appreciated!

I find it strange that you're not getting any CELs with an issue like that. Might be electrical gremlins (believe it or not). When was the last time you checked your battery? I know a buddy of mine has an '02 GC, and he had electrical issues that caused the Jeep to not shift and go all clunky as you described. He had to get his ECU reset I believe. If everything went normally after a short while, I don't know if it's going to be a ****** issue. But Tom's right. Fluids are always good to keep an eye on. Just because a mechanic says your fluid is "fine," doesn't mean it really is. You also have a filter, and things can seriously change in 4 months. This should have nothing to do with letting the Jeep warm up.

PS - A hello would be nice before you start posting your issues. :disgust:

45 seconds isn't really a warm up. Since you didn't really let it warm up, neither did the trans fluid. It also sounds like you have some converter drainback. These transmissions are designed to operate at a certain temp range. Once you got going down the road, got it warm and gave the pump enough time to fill the converter back up, it acted normally.
