I had a bad experience with Avondale. Ordered some stuff for the XJ, showed in stock etc and then made arrangements with a local shop to have the work done. No sooner did I get an email from Avondale saying that the parts I ordered are no longer parts they carry. So why were they on the site and it let me order them? lol

Looks like mine is leaking pretty good:

Probably the original so I'm just going to go for it and replace it. I had a feeling it was going to look like that. I noticed that everytime I'd park with the passenger side slightly down (uneven driveway) I'd get some leakage after a couple days. Park the other way and no leak. I even changed the pan last service. I'm guessing this may be the cause.

I've gotten a few things over the years from Avondale without problems. They seemed to take a while to actually ship the order though. This place I mentioned earlier in the thread is out of Tampa.

ltd02:

Do you see any droplets of atf hanging from under the sensor?
don't forget to check the speed sensors too just incase.

Also,

pull the sensor out and see whether there's a pin hole leak on the seal I mentioned in the How to.

another thing to test is put some compressed air in the sensor end and see whether any atf comes out from the connector side.

if no to both, then most likely you can try the o-rings.

Tough to tell from the picture but the sensor is wet with fresh ATF and there is a track of ATF down to the pan. Some droplets on the pan lip. Sensor has a bit of a wobble to it (not real tight). ATF level seems fine on the dipstick so must not be losing much. I'm just going to order a new one and change it. I'll try to check the old one after I get it out (probably next weekend). I'll check the speed sensors in a little while. Have to go air up a tire.

just in case, apparently 45RFE fluid level is checked while in Park and not in neutral like the 42RLE. Just found that out with the owners manual.

Manual also said to drive minimum 15 miles to get it up to operating temperature.

I think the dipstick in mine specifies to check warm and in neutral but the FSM specifies that the TC fills in both but to check in Park.

I've done both and never see a difference.

BTW nothing else seems to be leaking on mine.

Really? What place in Tampa? Lived there for 12 years. That's where I got the KJ...
I thought the 42RLE was checked in park too? I think that's what my manual says.
