2007 Jeep Liberty oil light came on and got a P0522 code Engine oil pressure Sensor, went to replace it but I can't get the sensor off. I don't feel or see the red locking tab on the sensor ?? I looked at buying a new connector in case but I see the new connectors have at least 2 wires on them and my connector only has 1 wire. Is one wire normal ? Thanks !

It looks like whoever got to that sensor before you did, broke the red lock off of the connector. At this point, you should be able to push a tab on the connector and pull it off. Cleaning that area up with brake clean or even high pressure water will make your job easier and you'll be able to see better.

Either way, there is only one wire going to the sensor on my 2005.

Don't cut the old one off or if you do, leave enough wire on each end so you can splice them back together. There is enough friction in those connectors to keep them attached even without having the red lock. It will separate from the sensor with enough patience and perseverance.

Also, the junkyard will probably have the piece.

Thanks for your help, I removed the radiator fan, serpentine belt & oil filter to get a better look and there is no red lock clip on sensor. I tried to pull the sensor off but it will not budge, Thats why I asked about the connector because I am figuring its just going to break. Thanks again !

I thought I could see the tab you need to push in one of your photos. Look at a connector that’s easy to access like the one on the front of your A/C that runs the clutch to get a better picture of how they work. You don’t need the red clip to attach the connector. It’s job is to keep the release tab from being inadvertently pressed.

Thanks, The red tab seems to busted off in the lock position I can see and feel part of it, I have basically replaced every sensor on the car except this one and I understand how they work etc. Thanks again !
