Took my KJ out today (ongoing pic thread)...

I just bought this '07 KJ Sport 4X4 two days ago so I took a lot of pictures since today was the first time I really drove it. So far, I really love it. Perfect size, great visibility, easy to drive, and comfortable to boot. I have some mods in mind for it but it's bone stock right now.

Brought a passenger and some recovery gear along for the ride...

Mods I have planned for now are skid plates, painting the stock wheels black, adding cross-bars and a basket to the roof, adding a tow hook to the receiver hitch, adding a DVD headunit and install kit from Crutchfield, getting a shorty antenna, an aFe drop-in Pro Dry S filter, and Gibson exhaust. Down the road, as things wear out, I'll eventually add an OME lift and 31" Wrangler Authority tires. I'd love a Westin brush guard and JBA headers but I don't think I could justify spending the money on those parts unless I got a good deal on used ones.

Thanks for the heads up! (pun intended) I put a header on my 4-****** Tacoma and it really woke that motor up... Thought it might do the same for the Libby. Guess not! Thanks for saving me $300+!

Yes save your money and don't buy:
headers since they're not being made anyways
CAI= doesn't help a bit , stock air box flows just as much
Gibson Exhaust=just weld in a new muffler unless you just like the look
Westin brush guard=junk to begin with plus with it installed you have to do away with front tow hooks

Now buy the right parts

2.5 inches before the muffler, necks down to 2.25 at the muffler, comes out of the muffler 2.5 inches

Thank you! Now to measure for length and decide which muffler to get... I want something with a mellow tone, not loud but noticeable. I'm thinking a Gibson Superflow or Borla XS may be the way to go.

I also did a quick Photoshop to see what it would look like with the factory wheels painted black... I may Plasti-Dip them instead of painting or powder coating them just in case I decide to go back or sell them down the road.

While I was Photoshopping the wheels I figured I'd play around with a few other things also I love the lines of the KJ... it's a very photogenic vehicle.

I figured I'd add to the existing thread here with a couple small updates. I installed two Mopar tow hooks on the front and added a hook into the receiver hitch out back as well.

Also added a sticker that I thought was appropriate in more ways than one

I think my next steps are going to be painting the stock wheels or buying new ones, and trimming the lower portion off the front bumper.

Got my custom phone mount and the Gorilla lugs in today. The wheels and my K&N will be here sometime around the 15th!

I wouldn't waste money on roof rails with the factory side rails. They are plastic ends bolted to the roof with two small books on each corner. I took mine off and will probably upgrade to a rocky offroad one

Got the lift and wheels on today! I think it looks WAY better. The 4" backspacing is absolutely perfect for the wheels. It pushes the tires out to the edges of the fender flares where they should be and even makes the stupid little P-metric 29" tires look better. The overall stance is infinitely better than the stock wheels.

My $95 "lift kit" gave me just over 2" in the front and just under 2" in the rear. My front hub to fender measurement is now 20-1/8". I'm sure the isos will flatten down a little and the coils may settle down some again, but I don't see losing any more than 1/4-1/2" after that happens so I have easily picked up 1.5" all around. It rides a little bit differently, but I wouldn't say its worse, just different. It is nice and level, no significant rake to the front or back. I am definitely a happy camper!
