Three-letter search. Mods?

This is an issue I've come across on many forums, but there seem to be more three-letter abbreviations/words here than I've experienced anywhere else.

For example, you can't search for: UCA, LBJ, OME, "OLD MAN EMU", JBA, OIL, CRD, PCV, IAC, PCM, RB1 ...you get the idea

Any chance of removing that three-letter limit? Or has anyone found a way around it?

Try a wildcard character

such as OME*

ah - I had being trying the SQL wildcard '%'
