Hey all,

I'm new to this site, and a total noob......

I've never owned a jeep, but I'm looking for a winter car, something that would allow me to drive in the winter w/o fear of snow.....

At the moment, I'm looking at taking over a lease for a 2007 Liberty....

I'm just wondering if any of you can tell me about some of the issues about this car, from your experience. I know this is a Jeep "JK" forum, and so obviously there's gonna be bias, LOL, but I would really appreciate from an owner's perspective, overall what you think of this car, and objectively, what you liked/disliked.....

If you can let me know about any potential problems known to this car to watch out for ie. I know about the Window Regulators already....anything like that.....or before going ahead and taking over the lease, things I should examine on the car/ask specifically about.....that would be greatly appreciated.....

I'm quite looking forward to the idea of feeling comfortable driving in Canadian winters with all the snow.....my other car is a RWD and it can be hellish sometimes to drive in the snow/wet

Thanks guys and sorry for the long post!

Welcome fellow canuck!(welcome)

The KJ is the perfect vehicle for our Canadian winters. I highly recommend you get one, if your going to get one, that has Selec-trac. It's a system that offers a full time 4wd mode that you can use on any surface. Just put it into 4 Full Time for the whole winter and you don't have to worry about which surface your driving on.

Regarding that 07 Liberty, post some pics and info about it and we can certainly help you:)

You seem clear on the regulator issue, on other thing is that the 06+ KJ's have more electronic safety features (a plus or minus) and that Command Trac is slightly stronger than Selec Trac, but Selec Trac has Full time 4wd in addition to Command Trac's modes. The 02 and early 03's had a better ******, and most 02's ride an inch higher.

And if you plan on a lift, for an 06+, you'd also need a brake line extension bracket.:)

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
Well the 2007 KJ was a different breed from the 2002-2006 Liberty. They changed alot under the hood testing the waters for the KK liberty. It has no trans oil dipstick, basically dealer only for service or just checking the level. It also has the drive by wire system, means the throttle is totally operated by wires and a electric motor,no throttle cable which makes it easier for the ESP and traction control to take over your driving style. The 2007 KJ also has had some issues with the torque converter and trans programming. And lastly they have the same issues with repeated window regulator failures.
