I've run the Kumho Road Ventures on my KJs, and I love them. The road noise in minimal, great on wet and dry road, and great off-road as well. They also don't kill your gas mileage depending on which size you get. I've never had any slippage and never got stuck while offroading with them. Granted, I'm not rock crawling, but I am going through mud, up and down steep and rocky slopes, and even getting one wheel in the air! Never had them go flat or pop and I've put them through some abuse!

Im glad some like the Kumho Road Ventures
I ran a set on the 04 , one set on the 05
hated both sets
We just OK at first, but with 12,000-15,000 or so, wet roads, snow etc they were terrible
Before 30,000 both sets were toast/gone /used up
Granted I do not take it easy on tires, but got over 90,000 out of Duatracs, etc
Plus my almost 90 year old then Stepfather was driving the 05 and putted around slowly

Toyo Open Country A/T 3 255/65 R16's on my 2005 Libby, unlifted with no rub, great tires on and off the blacktop, they have excellent wet pavement traction and are snow rated. They are also very close to factory tire height so the speedometer is accurate. The increased width really improves cornering too, and they are fairly quiet. Great tires IMO.
They are the widest tires that fit an unlifted 1st generation Liberty Sport, with no rub in my case.
Not the 1st glowing testimonial I've read right here on this forum. Too bad the Open Countries we get, at least in the size I wanted, are a completely different animal.

I've got a set of Nokian Rotiiva AT in 245/70R16 and they have not been impressive. The grip in the rain is really quite bad. My Fiance nearly spun the KJ on an offramp last year. They are acceptable for the infrequent snow we get here in Vancouver, but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. The (soon to be) brother in law has them on his Xterra and they are equally bad. My Liberty had Bridgestone H/L Alenza plus on 17"s when I bought it and those were fantastic. Incredibly quiet and with really excellent grip in the wet. My next tire (if I don't jump ship to a Land Rover) will be a 245/75R16 or 255/70R16 XL Falken AT3W. From all the testing I've seen they seem to have the best triad of wet grip, snow grip, and off-road grip. The tread looks cool too.

Got the last set of Atturo Trail Blade X/Ts for the Wrangler in Discount Tire’s system being shipped to the local store for install next Monday or Tuesday. 35x12.50R17s, 5 of them. It’ll be good for the trip home to cut down the constant drone from the Chinesium MTs currently installed. Dealers put on the cheapest option they can find to move vehicles.

The 33x12.50R17 takeoffs will be listed locally on CL and FB Marketplace for $400 with over 70% tread still existing. Should be gone quick.

Just follow-up to this old thread: I installed 245/75/16 Firestone Destination A/T 2 tires. Have about 10k miles on them. Good siping, took only a bit of weight, quiet, grip is pretty good, etc.

Toyo AT3s on the Liberty, 58 VW Bug and wifey's Outback. KO3s on the Rubicon. KO3s are worth every penny if you can find/afford them.

I'll probably catch a little heat for my answers based on aesthetics, but I'll throw my experience out there. My KJ is still "Stock".

I run exclusively 225/75 16's on it. Always 10 ply at around 28-30lbs. My favorite tires are either the Michelin LTX (and close copies) or the Goodyear Duratrac.

I often buy Ironmans that are a near copy of the Michelin LTX and they work about as well. The LTX tires are REALLY boring looking, because they look like a street tire, but are more of a M/S tire with excellent snow performance.

My KJ is a postal vehicle so it's gravel/snow/ice mostly. Mud, but it's not "offroad" all that much.

I really like the Duratracs as well but they're real expensive. A good set of tires lasts me about 8 months (gravel eats them) so unless I'm flushed with cash at a given moment I pucker up on buying the Duratracs.

I also like the LTXs, though I dont really do trails or much mud, only gravel roads. They have never let me down.

That said, and I do like overkill, the E load rating still sounds excessive for a Jeep that still weighs under 4000#.

I mean, I use LRE on my truck that weighs twice that much unloaded, though when I am hauling heavy I will use 18.6 wheels and tires with a G rating.

A long time ago when I was suggested to run E range tires I thought that was serious overkill also. It's really a compromise, mainly a way to avoid punctures from rocks/other hazards. When I first started carrying mail I had 4 flats my first week. Running 10 ply tires solves that. Gravel shreds the tread anyway, but at least you get the tire itself to last long enough to wear out. If you keep pressure low (28-30lbs) you don't really notice too much a stiff ride. One time I had some put on and the shop inflated them well over 70lbs! I felt like I was driving home on Amish wheels.....

Vredestein Pinza AT.
Do recommend.
Lovely road manners, and even worked fine when I had to plow with them on.
Haven't had monsoons so no rain report yet.

GT Radial ADVENTURO ATX

Got these in 245/70/16 and surprised at the quiet drive. Put them on my truck as well.

I just bought a set of these in 245/65r17.

Sailun TerraMax AT2

I've only driven 5 miles with them so I can't report much except to say they were the least expensive option for an AT all-season tire I could find. I'd be surprised if I put 5k miles a year on this Jeep. I won't be taking it on long trips, but it will be my winter car when it snows here, and the tire is 3 Peak Mountain Snowflake certified. I don't do extreme off-roading, just forest roads. I couldn't justify spending a whole lot on tires.

Anywho, they look nice and are slightly tall and wider than stock.
