Had to take jeepy in today for 60,000 mile maintenance schedule. Does the dealer actually do what the Jeep recommends to be done at each level, (ie oil change, diff change, spark plugs etc) or do they just visually check hoses, belts, and lube up the chassis?

All depends on the dealer some just check and do what's needed and some will do it all as listed. Best bet is to talk to them first and get all work it in writing first.

read your owners manual and follow whats recommend.

@60K or 5 yrs your big ticket items are tranmission pan drop and filter change, and coolant flush.

cheaper things you can do are diffs and transfer case.

The dealer will do the big items with the correct fluids which isn't a guarentee at other shops.

transfer case and diffs are ATF4+ and your choice on gear oil.

plugs you can also have them do if its beyond your comfort level. all 6 are about 22 dollars in canada, probably half that where you live.
