Spare Tire Extension Kit

Has anyone used or tried out the Spare Tire Extension Kit from Rocky-Road? Is the product worth wild or is it just a gimmick?

Ok, thanks guys. Will be going to 245-75-16s before long and just wonder if it would help or not. Sounds like something I can do with out.

245-75s will bolt right up, most you may have to do if flip the carrier upside down

My slightly worn Duratrac 245/75r16 on a stock wheel has about 3/4" of clearance to the bumper. You'd have to have a wheel with even less backspacing than a stock wheel to have fitment issues.

Im not sure what hes talking about. I have a Moab with 265/75r16 treadwright (heavy ass tire) and i didnt bend anything.

I'm using something similar to their extension just to get my tire up off my hitch temporarily. It's not that heavy and moves the tire out and up about 2". With a factory bumper there is no need for it though.

Kevin, to your original question...

I'm running 265/70's and all I've done is turn the carrier upside down as Tom mentioned. I added some nylon washers on the bottom two bolts to bring the tire back to a more vertical position but that's the only mod I've done to make it all fit.

I have a 245/75/R16 on my upside down tire carrier and it clears the glass lift gate.
