side moulding removal?

I'm trying to remove the moulding on the side with the "Liberty" imprinted on it so I can paint it black. Anybody every take these off and put them back on? I'd really love to be able to do that instead of masking off the whole side of the Jeep

Havent taken mine off, but by looking at it with the door open, looks like double sided plastics are holding it together, i would just mask the thing bro
