Reverse not engaging

Hi all, so this morning ive gone to drive the Jeep. Put it in reverse and nothing happened. I put it back in Park then back to reverse and again it didn't move. I gave it some revs and then I heard a Clunk noise and reverse engaged. Any ideas whats going on? Cheers.

What year is your KJ ? Crd or gas ?. Need to know what trans you have.

Its a 2005 Renegade V6. I think its the 42RLE transmission.

1. when was it's last service and what is the current fluid level

2. does it also do this behavior once the transmission has warmed up



i have a bad suspicion im going to put here incase i forget to check back to the thread after the other guys help with further diagnosis

involves a 3 dollar o-ring and a 25 cent snap ring on the L/R accumulator

part #'s #04431617AB and #06501695, between those and the transgo sk604 kit my suspicion would be resolved - but let's not jump to such suspicions like that yet

luckily, it's not a overly drastic task if necessary
