I am replacing a automatic transmission in a 2004 Liberty and need to remove the transfer case from old trans to put on new one. I have removed 6 external bolts from xfer case but still will not come off. Is there anyway to avoid cracking the xfer case to remove it or am I missing something?

As stated, there are 6 mounting studs for the t-case. Two are hidden. I use a 9/16" ratcheting stubby wrench to remove them. It makes it pretty easy.

You may or may not already know, but I'll list the steps anyways.

REMOVAL
Shift transfer case into NEUTRAL.
Raise vehicle.
Remove skid plate
Drain transfer case lubricant.
Mark front and rear propeller shaft yokes for alignment reference.
Disconnect front/rear propeller shafts at transfer case.
Disconnect transfer case position sensor connector
Disconnect transfer case shift cable at the range lever
Disconnect the transfer case shift cable from the shift cable bracket.
Disconnect transfer case vent hose
Remove nuts attaching transfer case to transmission.
Pull transfer case and jack rearward to disengage transfer case
Remove transfer case from under vehicle
