My 04 Liberty has the 5 speed manual ******. I notice a lot
(at least to me) of rear end back lash between 1st and 2nd
gear.
I thought at first my emg brake might be sticking and that
was causing the problem. I might also add that the 04 has
four wheel disc brakes. I took the Jeep to a brake dealer
(not Dodge dealership) and had the rear brakes checked.
I was called later and was told the rear rotors needed
replaced. They could not be turned (47k on the clock).
They also said they backed the emg brake off a bit.
The first time I used the emg brake (for parking) I noticed
is felt like it self adjusted back to where they were in the
first place. Now I hear more back lash between 1st and 2nd
gear again.
I was told the back lash is *normal*. I didn't think you
should be able to hear it in the cab plus feel somewhat
of a slow down between 1st and 2nd gear... I've had
other manuals and never heard or felt this much back
lash.
Anyone else have this problem with four wheel disk brakes
and manual trannys?
