Rear differential slip

I have a 2003 liberty limited 4x4 with 121,000 miles. I've noticed when accelerating from a stop, once I press the gas pedal, there is a slight hesitation in the rear end, then it catches and then accelerating goes smoothly. There is no sound or clunking notice, I feel it through the seat and pedals only. The hesitation is very minimal.

What could cause this and what should I look at first?

I'd start with checking the transmission fluid level
