Quickest cheapest way is be sure to be up to date on all maintance, oil changes, plugs, seafoam the motor etc..
Then a intake like LTTs CIA from lost, then a nice exhaust system.
That will keep you happy with more power and a nice sound, and keep the KJ happy running good and strong :D

^^^ Totally agree. Keep up on maintenance. I've added a K&N CAI a Jet Performance Stage 1 module and an MBRP stainless cat back exhaust. All three helped to dramatically increase power in the 3.7.

This combo has given me much firmer shifts, way quicker acceleration and a bunch more torque on the bottm end. 0-60+ is a no-brainer, fewer downshifts when climbing uphill but unfortunately, not better gas milage. Mind you, I've always got my foot in it so to speak. The power gains may not have been hugely substantial but they are definately apparent under all driving conditions.

Unfortunalty the 3.7 has a flawed piston design. The rings sit to high on the piston. If you add much power the pistons give out right away. So like they said its just the simple things like intake and exhaust to free up the engine a little. Some say the jet chips work, others argue that the KJs computer overrides it over time. The 3.7 is very a capable engine and gets the job done well, unfortunatly if you want to add more then say 20 hp the pistons will die on you.

Stage II chip and follow all the recommended changes. If you can find one there is a supercharger that was discontinued? Maybe someone junked one- ebayed one or something but all ya got is the stage II chip that is readily available.

Not entirely correct. They just won't handle nitrous or supercharging or anything else that dramatically increases cylinder pressure. They'll be fine if you run bigger cams and such.

KCJeep - kenne bell made the supercharger kit for the liberty but discontinued it after 6 months when they realized the piston issue, and not to many liberty owners want to completly build their engine with aftermarket piston just to run a supercharger. Im sure there are other issue that would also come up down the road but no one goes down it so its left alone.

you want a boosted liberty get a diesel

TBJ- ya i probably could have worded that better, but i think we can agree by the dyno a intake exhaust and chip on a liberty dosnt net you much power gains.

other then a custom grind does anyone actually make a cam for the liberty? never heard of one.

there is a guy that sells cams for the 3.7, or at least he did when i bought my throttle body from him, couple years back. he was selling three different grinds. i believe the 206 grind(mild) he said , got u like 20ft/lbs and 30 more ponies to play with.

think he was asking 750$ or round abouts there, remember , u need 2.

his website for the throttle bodies is, thefastman.com, there is no info on site regarding cams, just TB's, but there never was. u would have to give him a call for info on cams.

always wondered myself if anybody had bought one of his cams from him. maybe u will be the first. i would love to do this mod but without someone else on here to say "yeah, gret product, lots of power with no problem" i am hesitant.
With that said though his TB was the best mod (bang for buck) i have bought for my jeep.

750 for a pair of cams is absolutely crazy.

Could see 4-500 bucks...but 750? Nah..ThunderbirdJunkie will pass.

X2................

I've had custom ground cams made by Crane(RIP) that cost less the half of that,my '84 CUCV needed a crazy cam to make 475hp and still have 18in vacuum at 800rpm and Crane came through for $280 shipped and with matched lifters.

well that's just fxxxing great. Isn't S&S the same company that has those cheesy, cheap Harley engines that last about 10k miles before needing rings and their cranks machined so they're round?
