does anybody have pics of there offroad lights, fog lights, how they were mounted, all of that fun stuff!

Also links and maybe prices on them would be appreciated.

But what im really looking for is basically a bar that goes across the front bumper and lights can be attached to it! Also looking for a decent roof rack that lights could also be attached to!

Thanks

This is what my KJ had when I bought her. It's just bumper jewelry really. I'd hate to see what happens if I tried to actually push anything with it. It's destined to be scrapped when I start trying to build a real 4wd out of her.

But, it provides a place to mount the lights.

I don't know what brand/model that is.

The best solution is to replace the bumper With an ARB and then you can have the lights and a winch and real complete front end protection.
I like Ryan's mounting of winch/lights with a "Detours" backbone (yes you can search it) and the strength that comes with the mount while maintaining the original bumper.

I run a Setina PB-400 push bar, that had to be modified for both mounts and fabricating a steel downpost welded to front skid plate to make it a real push bar. I will mount lights shortly onto deck of it.
Re the basket: I use a Rola Basket (ya search that) it is strong and looks good.

not the best photos but first ones I came to
using smaller profile lights so I can get into parking garages( barely):happy175:

i like the first idea a lot, just the fact that im not planning on buying a winch in the near future so it would look tacky without the winch....

and the 2nd (push bar) is a really good idea! was it difficult to mount?

Thanks for all the info,

Ya the PB-400 was a real pain.
It mounts to where the tow hooks were. The provided brackets were completely unacceptable.
The bumper had to be removed and fabrication along with new brackets to mount in the tow hook area were created.
Then an angle iron was welded onto the bottom of the push bar and then a removable down post got welded to the skid plate for real pushing strength.

It is stronger & better /easier to just get an ARB it will look awesome without a winch!

501's ( maroon one) has a piece of exhaust pipe bent and flat pieces welded to the ends of it to mount on the bumper for the lights has held up very well
I forget what roof basket he has, he'll be back over to my shop soon to have more work done so will see then

The light bar I used on our KJ is actually a "Left over" custom fabricated one I originally made for my 1976 Mini!
I just fabricated a new mount to fit the Backbone.

As far as roof top mounting lights, I mounted/bolted an extra Thule roof rack bar directly to the roof so I can add 4-6 more lights up top.

I'll be mounting either four of the same lights which Tim is showing in the second picture. (His birthday pressy from Jen and I.)
Or two of those 8" round 100 watt and two 6X9 Dick Cepek fitted with 100 watt bulbs.

(The largest rectangular lamps in my assortment!)

Or six 7" round 55 watt lamps I have lying around.

I am just going to play with all of the lights to find the best setup!

im really looking for something that mounts to the original roof rack, but the clips that mount to the rails are extremely expensive for what they are.

how did you mount the roof rack? is that bolted straight to the roof?

Yes, I drilled right through the black plastic trim covering the roof/body seam
into the sheet metal, then riveted in "Nutserts" (Threaded rivets) and bolted
the Thule 400 foot pack (As it's called) directly into the Nutserts.
I used an aerospace epoxy in the Nutsert to both waterproof everything and
act as a thread locker. No leaks and stronger than the factory roof rails.
I'll be removing the factory rack and hard mounting all the Thule roof rack
system this way sometime this summer.
Then I'll have a very strong setup and be able to carry even more crap up on the roof!
Like a Thule M.O.A.B. roof basket for my birthday!

I really like that setup 501 has...I plan to do something similar on my 2007 once I have a garage again. It's not going to look as good due to the different bumper design - I really like how his ties in.
