Ordered a new rear driveshaft, but the photo looks different to the one on my Liberty (2005 3.7l)

As the title says, I need to replace my rear driveshaft, so I ordered a replacement one. After I placed the order, I watched a tutorial on youtube, and I noticed that there seems to be an extra 'disk' on the driveshaft near the transfer case. I looked at mine, and it also has the disk. The one I ordered doesn't seem to have one.

Is this just something that they don't bother with anymore, or is it important? If the latter, is it removable so I can reuse it, or is the driveshaft in the photo the wrong one for my vehicle? (It definitely says it fits my model).

Its a damper/balancer. The new one you have shown has small weights on each end.

I was process of replacing my driveshaft as well and came across this exact same question.
I wasn't sure if the new one was going to work yada yada
Well it did work but it was a really tight fit onto splines.

I guess the upside is the old driveshaft was about 22 lbs, the new one is 17.6 lbs. I would hope that 4.4 lbs reduction in rotating mass will give a tiny increase in MPG while also decreasing the wear on the driveline.

I should have elaborated - the new shaft was REALLY tight. I lube it up *giggity* and still had to use a ratchet strap to get it on. I looped it around the differential crossmember passed it through the end of the rear diff yoke and cranked the heck out of it.

It was a 2 hour job all due to it being such a tight fit. *giggity*
