I've never driven a vehicle with Seafoam added to the oil. I usually pour it in and let it sit and idle up until it gets up to operating temp for a while then drain it.

Either way I would add a bottle of stop leak to the oil when you change it next. Seafoam and other solvents are ******* engine seals and gaskets.

Eh I'm against additives and cleaners all together. Like I said I pulled my valve cover off and had absolutely zero sludge at 125k. No additives necessary.

Just did the passenger valve cover...almost gave up. Just removing the air box was a pain...ropes and wood to evenly pull it out...it was quite a pain. Once I got to the cover, it wouldn't come off and using a screwdriver to pry it wasn't an option or a way I wanted to try. Once again, the rope/nylon string under and edge to let it up.

Only broke the PVC valve when removing the hose, vacuum hose from cruise control was brittle and it broke. Then found a bad hose going from the block to the intake. There is one on each side of the 3.7 black box, but the hose was split in the back...so all in all the $350 labor charge that I saved paid for gasket kit, hoses, PVC, and some new wiring covers to replace the cracking and missing wire shields. Now to tackle the drivers side. Any tips?

You've done the hard side - the driver's side will be a piece of cake. Nothing to get out of the way except the connections for the coil packs and fuel injectors. It's very straightforward.

Congrats on choosing to tackle the difficult side first - I predict you'll be sipping an adult beverage admiring your completed work about an hour after you start on the driver's side. :party52:

Valve Covers!!

Thanks Bob!

Ya, the smoke from the passenger side was coming it the heater vents...took a while to burn the excess off, but all seems well now. Figured I have the gasket for the drivers side, might as well do it too.

Some posters mentioned the grommets. Yes they were include in the FelPro kit, and it took me a few to figure out that a small screwdriver was needed to get them loose enough to get off of the cover, but they do come off with the bolts and nuts.

Oh, and yes I also snapped the standoff for the 2 hoses in the back on the passenger side, so had to epoxy it back together. Stealer said it is part of the hose assembly, $177...BS
